πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The boat in the reviews is generally praised for its solid construction, roominess, and stability, making it a great choice for both modifications and practical use on water. It's lightweight enough for easy transport, yet sturdy enough to handle modifications and additions without compromising on stability or safety. Despite these issues, the boat's ability to remain stable, even when standing on its edges, makes it highly valued among users.

Pros

  • 🚀 Solid and roomy construction
  • βš’ Great for modifications
  • πŸ›Ά Highly stable, even when leaning or standing
  • πŸ’ͺ Lightweight and easy to transport
  • 🎣 Ideal for fishing and leisure activities

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a stable, roomy boat that's easy to modify and transport, this could be a great option for you, especially if stability is a top priority. However, be mindful of potential durability issues and consider the value carefully, especially with the noted price increases. If possible, inspect the boat in person before purchasing to avoid any surprises.

  • Great bang for the buck!
Pattern Name: kayak
I received this boat just after Christmas 2020 and have been working on some modifications, including a casting deck and other goodies. The boat is very solid and quite roomy. I gave 5 starts to the boat but would give 2 stars to the "TBA" delivery as they damaged the rear of the boat by setting it on its end while they were unloading it from their truck. The boat does not come in a box, it's simply wrapped in plastic, which makes it quite vulnerable to careless handling. ... show more

  • New update DO NOT BUY FROM HERE
Pattern Name: kayak
Staples connecting the two pieces are broken, the black plastic covering the staples is starting to come undone. I'm am completely unhappy with this. I can't imagine the return process for this so I am stuck with it. I highly recommend getting this in person so you know nothing is wrong with it. This is completely unacceptable, I still can't wrap my mind around this. Just wow UPDATE: First review was January 2023. This didn't hold up well. Every single time I took it out for the past 4 months it took on so much water it wouldn't hardly move. The price is 3x more expensive than buying it in store where you know nothing is wrong with it. DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON. Go buy it new where you can inspect it for $800. It's not worth it buying it here where it will come damaged and you might get a years use out of it. • Extremely Stable Boat. Will not Tip.
Pattern Name: kayak
This boat will not tip over if if you stand on any edge of the boat. This is my primary reason for buying it. I previously had a canoe that never tipped over, but came close a couple times, especially when using a trolling motor. Now I do not even think about tipping. This boat is not for paddling. You at least need a Trolling motor or small gas engine. It moves along nicely with a 62 pound thrust Trolling motor. You won't get anywhere fast, but it is built for stability, not speed. I don't fish, but I can see why fisherman seem to like this boat. You can cast or pull in a fish with no concern for tipping as you would in a canoe or kayak. 2 people can extremely lean to one side of the boat. Try that in a canoe if you want to go swimming. One complaint: there is a black plastic trim that covers the bonding that holds the top half of the boat to the bottom half of the boat. They did a bad job installing it. It was overly stretched on one side of the boat and bunched on the other side. Its mostly for looks. It covers the staples that bond top to bottom.. The top looks ok. If you look underneath the plastic is not covering the staples in some spots because of this poor installation.. I considered this a minor flaw and I did not want to return it. One other point: I bought this in Nov 2021 for about $950 as of June 2022 it is $1,999. I know we are having inflation, but over double the price. I would not buy it now, I am glad I bought when I did. ... show more

  • The Pelican is incredibly stable
Pattern Name: kayak
It's lightweight enough for me, at 83 years old, to move around without a trailer. I use it to run along the shoreline of Florida lakes. It has ample room for two people and a whole lot of gear.

  • Not worth the price or the 3 months to arrive!
Pattern Name: kayak
The boat took 3 months to get here, it was damaged, dents all over and under the boat. Staples which connect the two major pieces are missing. So needless to say it will not go in water for quite a while. I am so disappointed and will NEVER purchase another big expensive item from Pelican or Amazon.

Pattern Name: kayak
I’m using it on a large pond and it’s the perfect size. Very lightweight and well built. I love it!!!
