PC Tools registry cleaner did a great job on my pc. I built my own pc and after downloading and updating software for my perepherials (keyboard, monitor, printer, blah blah) the registry can get a little fat and my pc started running a little slower. Boot time was a bit longer than usual not to mention some applications would take longer than others to boot up. Now I know I can go into regedit and clean out a few files if I know what I am looking for and know what to delete, this can be time consuming and if you delete the wrong file you may have to start all over with putting windows back on your system again. PC Tools has had a good rateing over the years and I have heard good things about this and Spyware software they put out. This product cleaned the system, did a performance check, cleaned up internet history and cache, found something like over 200 problems that needed attention, it asked if I wanted these problems to be fixed? well, hell yeah!!! I can't say enough about this software, it does what it's supposed to do and exceeded my expectations. If your pc is slow and oyu've had it for a while or even if it's a new build, I would recommend this software to keep your machine tuned and clutter free. I am so impressed with PC Tools I am thinking of trying their Internet Security, currently I use Panda and it has done a good job (better than Norton's) for the last 5 years. If anyone uses PC Tools Internet Security, tell me what you think about it and what your experiences you had with this product. ... show more

    • Good product for cleaning up the Windows registry
I was amazed at all the errors this product found in the registry (running Windows XP with SP3). However, after Registry Mechanic cleaned up the mess that it found, that did not translate into the dramatically improved speed I anticipated, either for on-going operations or shortened boot-up time. After consulting additional reviews on various PC technical sites, I found my expectations were way out of line, and what I got was about all that realistically could be expected - from this or any similar product. For me to see true speed increases, I need to increase my PC's memory, and I am not sure it is worth the expense that would entail. Anyway, the Amazon price was better than anywhere else I could find (including eBay), and delivery was fast and safe. All in all, this is a good product, it does an excellent job, and it is well worth the Amazon price. It is simple to use and does not require any expert knowledge by the user. Don't expect it to perform miracles, however, because if you are using it on a PC running XP, you are hampered by an old operating system running on a hardware platform that is likely out of date. ... show more

I have used older versions of PCTools Registry Mechanic in the past and have never encountered any problems with the product. When I upgraded to V9.0 the results were just as I expected them to be, no problems.

I had some problems with my pc this software helped to rid some of the bugs in my system and cleaned a lot of unnecessary and unwanted files.
