This is the second purchase of the Patpet Training Collar. Our first one was purchased 2 years ago. I recharged the old one and for some reason couldn’t get the receiver to turn on. I tried and tried without success. So I thought the battery fully died. Had I checked the little manual I would have discovered to re pair it to the transmitter. I missed the return date. Oh, well. This gives me an opportunity to review again. We always turn the receiver off after each use. The transmitter can’t be turned off and that is a good thing. If I need it I don’t want to be messing around to turn it on. That is important. Belle has always responded to the tone. I think her previous owners must have had a wireless fence of some sort. I have never had to use the shock. When she sees the receiver, she knows it is outside time. I’ve not used it inside. I can be outside working and she will stay insight and she knows where the boundaries are. All I have to do is call her name. If I don’t spot her, she gets a tone. And there she is. She knows the vibrate is the next step. It does take consistency. She only has it on for 1-3 hrs at a time outside. The rubber covers seem to be a bit longer and fit better. We have had no problems with it rubbing on her skin. It has come in handy to keep her from pulling me along when she spots a squirrel or deer. She gets a warning tone. She also gets a verbal warning and a tone well in advance when we meet other dogs on our walk. I try to anticipate distractions on our walks. I’ve been able to take her off the leash in certain areas to give her a bit more freedom. She is well aware the collar is still on and pretty much obeys commands. This collar works great!! My dog has had it for 2 months because she has a really bad problem with barking at the neighbors when they’re on their own property, but 2 months later she’s stopped when she hears the beep! we don’t use the shock very much because i feel bad when i have to, but the vibration works very well on her (she’s a 22lb jack russell mix). The only problem i have with this is that i can’t make it much smaller, and it rubbed some of the hair off her neck from it not being tight enough :( but we take it off as soon as she comes inside so hopefully that will help in the future! ... show more

I love this collar so much I bought it twice when I lost the first remote! Haha I think the range is great, the only wish I had is it would not go into "sleep mode." I have to click the button twice if I haven't used it in a while, so have quick trigger finger. It does however help the battery life so it's not a losing situation. ... show more

This POS didn't work after 4 hours charging. light's lit up. sound. vibration. no shock.. spent 2 hours looking for my dogs because this POS wouldn't function as advertised... returning with prejudice. Don't waste your money. you get what you pay for....

The batteries want stay charged on either of the collars more than a couple days. The last two I’ve owned stayed charged for weeks sometimes months. Don’t waste your money. I should have kept the box so I could return them

We have a boxer that likes to visit our neighbors dogs. We tried everything we could think of to keep him in our yard, our friend suggest getting him a shock collar. I researched several different brands and decided in this one. When he would get too close to the fence line where he would previously jump over, I would press the sound (beep) or vibration button. We only had to shock him one time. He has stayed in our yard ever since. The hand held remote works great and you can adjust the shock and vibration intensity to your pets needs.     • Great for double coated dogs aka golden retrievers.

Unfortunately, the buttons don’t always work. Overall, it does work good when it works. Important thing to note it is that it does work and golden retrievers, which I have tried many different ones and they did not work because of their thick hair.
