Muchas personas creen que aprender a jugar RPGs (Juegos de rol) como Dungeons and Dragons es muy difícil. Si bien puede parecer algo complicado sin la ayuda de alguien más, la realidad es que esta caja te hace la tarea increíblemente más fácil. 1. ¿Qué incluye la caja? La caja incluye todo lo necesario para jugar el juego de Pathfinder 2da edición al menos mientras aprendes. Fácilmente pueden ser meses de contenido para jugar o incluso más. Al abrirla, lo primero que te vas a topar son: un juego de dados completo, las bases para las figuras (más de esto en un momento), y una página que sirve de introducción para guiarte, ya sea que nunca has jugado, si quieres ser solo jugador, o si quieres ser el director del juego. La hoja te indica que secciones de los libros debes de leer. Tambien encontrarás 6 tarjetas de apoyo para los jugadores, que sirven como resumen de las reglas más básicas. Luego encontrarás el Manual del Héroe (74 páginas) que incluye las reglas básicas para crear personajes así como reglas del juego en general. La caja contiene reglas para jugar los personajes hasta que lleguen a nivel 3. Después está la Guía del Director del Juego (90 páginas) que incluye una aventura ya lista para ser jugada y así poder entrar de una sola vez al juego. Contiene reglas para el director sobre como manejar ciertos tipos de encuentros, reglas para objetos mágicos y un corto bestiario de 50 monstrous. Ya en el final viene una guía de un pueblo que sirve para poder crear aventuras por tu propia cuenta. La caja tambien contiene un mapa de 30 x 32 pulgadas que está impreso por ambos lados, y que puedes usar marcadores de pizzara para escribir sobre el y poder borrar. Incluye 4 personajes prehechos para poder jugar de una vez, y hojas de personaje vacías para poder crear tus propios personajes. También incluye figuras de carton para usar como miniaturas en el mapa. Inlcuye 96 figuras de monstruos y 28 figuras de héroes que puedes usar para representar a tus personajes. Incluye una serie de bases plásticas para poner en pie las figuras. 2. Presentación Paizo es una compañia que se toma muy en serio la calidad de sus productos y esta no es una excepción. Los libros están bien hechos, con buen arte, bien diagramados y ordenados y usando un papel de excelente calidad. Las hojas de personajes prehechos vienen con guía para entender bien como usar la hoja y las reglas. El mapa es bien grande y de un cartón resistente. La impresión es muy buena y el arte es apropiado para usarlo en la aventura que incluye el libro del director. Dos elementos que creo que son excelentes son que incluyeran las tarjetas de referencia, ya que son una ayuda enorma el jugador y al director novato (incluso alguno con experiencia puede beneficiarse de usarlas) y la otra es que cada dado es de diferente color, y las hojas de personaje incluyen estos colores para identificar los dados, ayudando así a poder reconocer cuando hay que usar cada dado. 3. Valor en el tiempo. Objetivamente hablando, esta caja es de mucho valor para aquella persona que nunca ha jugado Pathfinder 2da edición ni juegos de rol en general. Está pensada para ser una excelente introducción. Cabe destacar que Pathfinder es un juego que requiere de mucha estrategia y táctica de parte de los jugadores, y esta caja y su aventura introductoria ayudan a entender los conceptos básicos de una forma muy sólida. El mapa y las miniaturas de cartón lo dan mucho más valor para alguien que esté iniciando. Si, por otro lado, ya has jugado juegos de rol, pero nunca Pathfinder 2, la caja también tiene mucho que ofrecer. La aventura puede ser un poco sencilla, y el hecho de que los personajes pre-hechos solo representan 4 de las 10 clases posibles en Pathfinder, pues hace que tal vez para alguien con un poco de experiencia, se sienta un poco limitado. El manual del héroe también es restrictivo en ese sentido, ya que ofrece opciones limitadas de clases y linajes (razas, como son llamadas en otros juegos) y por supuesto, permite llegar hasta nivel 3. Alguien con experiencia es probable que quiera cambiar al libro de reglas completo en poco tiempo. Sin embargo, la forma en que están presentadas las reglas, y las miniaturas de cartón si son una buena oferta. Por último, para quienes han jugado Pathfinder 2 y probablemente tengan el libro de reglas completo, es poco el valor de una caja como esta. El juego de dados, las figuras, el mapa y por supuesto las tarjetas de referencia son muy muy útiles para cualquier juego, así que algo de valor puede ofrecar la caja.     • If you were thinking about teaching D&D 5e to your friends and family try Pathfinder instead.
I love DND 5e, I meet up every week with a few friends and we are playing through a campaign at this moment. But like any TTRPG it's tough to learn. I have trying over and over to get my wife and kids in on this but I could never sucker them into DND. I have tried the various DND starter sets to no avail. Then I saw this Pathfinder Beginner Box and figured I would try something different. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Let me first say compared to the DND starter set, Pathfinder Beginner Box blows it away with how much you get in here and the quality of everything. Being this is geared towards new players, they loaded it up with EVERYTHING you will need to run the included campaign, which is super fun to play through. In this box you get; Intro players handbook DM guide / campaign book FULL two sided battle map A TON of "pawns" (kind of like miniatures but they are double printed 2d cardboard cutouts with plastic holders.. I have to note these pawns are awesome. They included EVERY monster and character you will encounter in the included campaign AND the premade characters) Fully fleshed out premade character sheets with entire backstory's and a super easy format set up so you can hand this to a new player and they can easily figure out what to do. A full set of colored dice, each color representing a different die. Great idea so you can tell a new player "roll the blue one" or "roll the red one" until they can get used to what a d20, d8, d4 etc look like I am probably forgetting something here too. To be honest, this completely shatters what Wizards of the Coast gives you with the DND starter set, and feels like a premium box. All for $40. The value is insurmountable. This is a review for the box and it's contents not the system itself. Way more sturdy material than the d&d starter kit. The pawns are the main reason I got the box and there is a good variety which I plan on using for my 5e campaign in place of minis. The map is a good size and can be drawn on. I haven't played Pathfinder but I was able to figure out some of the differences between the systems but it seems like they do a good of guiding players new to rpgs through the basic concepts. As someone who has only played 5e considering trying this system this is probably going to be even easier to grasp. I do like what I've seen of the system and am interested in trying the beginner module to see how it plays. I made a character fairly quick I'm assuming there are alot more options in the Core book so that might increase the time for character creation if you're playing the full game. There are four pre made characters too but I'd recommend making new ones I think it helps to understand the game mechanics. I do think the character sheets are not designed as well, there isn't much room in the boxes so filling out abilities is cramped without having to reference them in the book. It would be nice to have a second page for abilities and equipment, obviously you can use blank paper but it would be nice to have them included. I think it's a good value and having read the rules and made a character I'm excited to try it out. ... show more

    • Great start for Pathfinder 2E or TTRPGs
Pathfinder is a much improved game system compared to D&D in my opinion. This is much easier for a new person that has never played before to get into tabletop top role playing games. This box has everything you need to start a simple campaign.

Ran this for a bunch of DND 5e players. All vets. Been playing for years. They befriended the Kobolds, created an army with them, and then over through Otari.
