Description

PanaVise is a major manufacture of Vises and Work Holding Tools. PanaVise's Tilt, Turn & Rotate technology has been applied to the product line, allowing for maximum efficiency and many different uses. Introducing the Panavise 305 Low PROFILE BASE, Lowest profile Base on the market! For working closely to the bench surface, this Base accepts all 300 series Heads. Accepts all 300 series Heads and any 5/8-Inch (15.9mm) diameter shaft. Use with the 304 Low-Profile Head to create a very Low-profile vise. Single control knob and exclusive split-ball locks Head firmly in place. Base features 4.3125-Inch (109.5mm) bolt circle countersunk for three 1/4 (6.3mm) flat-head screws (not included). Height: 2.5 (63.5mm), Weight: 1.3 lbs. (0.6kg). From the Manufacturer The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is a work- holding tool base designed for vise applications that require minimal distance from work benches, or other mounting surfaces. The 305 utilizes a "split-ball" feature which allows for head movement through three separate planes (tilt, turn and rotate), controlled by a single-load control knob. The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is compatible with all PanaVise 300 series vise heads and can be mounted using 1/4" (6.3 mm) countersunk screw holes in its bolt circle. Low-profile base designed for vise applications close to bench surfaces. View larger.Stable Low-profile Holding Power The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) tall, with a base diameter of 4-5/16" (109.5 mm). The base combines with one of PanaVise's compatible heads (sold separately) to create a work-holding tool suitable for use in a space that requires the attached head to be closer to the work bench. The bolt circle at the bottom of the base contains three pre-drilled holes countersunk for use with 1/4" (6.3 mm) flat head screws (sold separately) to secure the base to a work surface. Alternately, the 1.3 lb. (0.6 kg) weight of the 305 low-profile base, and its lower center of gravity, make it a good choice for lighter work-holding tool applications where mounting of the base is not possible or wanted. Convenient adjustability across three separate planes (vise head and mount sold separately). View larger. Compatible with all 300 series heads (vise head sold separately). View larger.Tilt, Turn and Rotate Functionality The 305 low- profile base utilizes PanaVise single-knob "split-ball" functionality at the point of contact with installed vise heads. Once a vise head is installed and an item is secured, the split-ball system allows for maneuvering the item along three separate planes, with a single-load control knob locking the head firmly in place. The mobility range of the model 305's split-ball system is a 90-degree tilt to the side, along with either an angled rotation, or a level turn range of 360 degrees. This range of mobility allows a user to rearrange items into any position, and limits the need to adjust the overall position of the vise, or the item within the vise. Multiple Vise Head Options The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is suitable for use across a wide range of applications and is designed to be compatible with a range of vise heads. The base works with all PanaVise 300 series vise heads, as well as the PV Jr. model 203 head, or any tool head accessory with a 5/8" diameter shaft. • Great vise for precision work
Exactly what what I was looking for, a precision vise for delicate work. I used the low profile base and added the magnet since my work area is all metal, so I'm not limited on where I can place the work piece

  • Solidly made, functional and sleekly designed
I now own four Panavise base units, but this is the first low profile I've purchased. It is being used to hold a vintage articulated lamp / magnifying lens on my workbench. I had to use brass shims around the lamp base stud to fill up the receptacle in this base unit. It is bolted to my workbench, and works great with the lamp. ... show more

  • Very versatile base!
Base allows for any tilt, direction and angle. Great value.

  • Over the years I always looked at these but never spent the money to buy one - I should have!
Been soldering circuit boards since the dawn of time and had some make shift clumsy circuit board holder. I finally broke down and spent the money to kit up a PanaVise system with 315 head and absolutely love it. I suggest also buying the 305 mini vise because the jaws on the 315 are larger and work on 75% of the boards but not so much on the small boards with components near the edge. Now I can switch between the two in a twist of the knob. Another work of advise, don't bolt it down to your bench, bolt it to a nice flat piece of hardwood with that sticky style shelf liner on the bottom, stays put, doesn't tip over, and you can move it when you want the bench back. ... show more

  • Great product and quality
Purchased this as part of the Panavise set. Use this for small wiring jobs as well as wire harness construction. Best purchase I've made in a long time!

  • Coolest mini vise ever
I liked everything about it. I have no dislikes to report.

  • Expected more out of it.
Honestly I expected better quality. The unit should have a metal handle like the PanaVise Desk Clamp has. Gives a much better purchase on tightening and loosening things. Could also use thicker/better quality metal for the inner clamps for the rotating bar for holding the PanaVise jaws of your choosing. Personally I chose the extra wide opening one. Even the quality of that is questionable but I'll do a write up on that separately. TL;DR Overall I like the form factor of the low profile base but I feel it needs the metal handle and better material to screw into for the inner clamps. It hasn't broke yet but I feel like I can't trust tightening it enough. ... show more

  • Good jeweler's bench tool
I bought this and the low profile head for use at my jeweler's bench. Even though most vises are adjustable, they are hard to work with on a regular basis for fine detail work because they stick too far up, out, or both. This is a quality, refined, well-built unit that adjusts easily, locks tight, and is capable of holding your work down at a reasonable level. I love all of my PanaVise products and recommend them specifically to jewelers as well as any other detail-workers. ... show more
