Many folks don’t use landline cordless phones anymore but in our household we still do in addition to our cell phones. This is a well designed three phone set of two-tone black and silver phones from Panasonic with several nice features including a choice of languages in the menus. The base unit is the main control point for the answering machine, however messages can be retrieved with the remote handsets too, albeit with more cumbersome pressing of numbers for functions rather than using the dedicated buttons on the base unit. The answering machine can be left turned off if you have a separate answering device or do not want callers to leave messages. A variable volume boost function can be manually activated via buttons on the side of the handsets. It would be nice if individual handsets could be set with permanent volume boost for hearing impaired users but I suppose Panasonic anticipated persons of different hearing ability in the household would use the phones so the boost function automatically turns off after each call is completed. Several call blocking methods are available. You can manually enter phone numbers into a list of up to 1000 callers. You can press the Call Block button while on the phone to prevent the caller from calling again. (A verification step is required before the block is accepted to prevent you from blocking someone if you accidentally press Call Block.) Automated Call Blocking screens callers by playing a greeting that requires the caller to punch in a code continue. (The code is revealed in the greeting so that a person can continue but a robocalling machine won’t understand how to respond to your greeting message and the call is then dropped.) The best part is that your phone never rings until the caller successfully enters the code. If you have other phones not part of this Panasonic set, they may or may not ring based upon how you set them up. Other features include One Ring Scam Alert, 100-name Contacts Directory, and a Favorites button that allows three frequently called numbers to be programmed in. A flashlight built into each handset gobbles up battery life when activated and is not bright enough to be very useful. It is a feature that could be done without but I won’t hold it against Panasonic toward my overall rating of this phone set. ... show more
