  • Exploding Batteries
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
Third pack to have a battery explode and right after my 30day return expired.. What's up with that. Maybe its because I'm in Arizona but everywhere has AC so I don't know if that argument is valid. I ordered 2 packs of 8ct. AAA's and 2 packs of 8ct AA's and all but one of those packs (so far) has had at least 1 battery explode with in the last 30 of purchase! These are supposed to be the best of the best and they have held up pretty good so far now if only they would stop blowing up. Good grief! ... show more

  • The Enloop Pro AA’s have exploded on 2 different occasions!!
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
These batteries work great when they function correctly. However I had a set of 8 Enloop Pro AA batteries explode in my audio recorder. The first time it happened I figured it was a bad batch. I was reluctant about getting these again but nearly one year later it happened again. This time it melted the plastic battery tray and I nearly burned my fingers while trying to get the batteries away from my Sound Devices MixPre-6 field recorder. I would not recommend these batteries is you use this unit. So far the Duracell 2500mah AA have given me the best performance. Dependability and battery length. ... show more

  • Erratic capacity, high self-discharge
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
After only two recharging cycles, two batteries are showing erratic behavior with extremely high rates of self-discharge, many times beyond that of NiMH, and can hardly even charge. For highly rated batteries, this is unacceptable. 31 months later of next to no use, the batteries require 2 charges on an intelligent charger to charge up, nearly 2A, after being partially drained in a headlamp. They seem to have decomposed just sitting still. And each battery has different charge requirements. RECOMMENDATION Buy the regular Eneloops. ... show more

  • Thought the batteries were emitting gas. They might be but they still work great.
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
I wrote a review originally suspecting these of emitting some sort of gas. I didn't do any research I just saw that my flashlight's sealed battery compartment had blown up the rubber button like a balloon. Solution. Put a small hole in the button and all is good. I'm betting that it expanded because of the heat. New review below. I go through AA's like crazy and these batteries have helped me keep hundreds of regular AA's from entering landfills needlessly. They work well. Some hold charge better than others. They seem to like to be rotated. Hoping an upgraded version comes out soon! ... show more

  • Would be great if they fit
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
These came recommended by a friend. I've bought about 24 of them and have been using them for a few months now. In general they seem to have pretty good performance, arguably better than some rechargeables I've used in the past but it's a bit too soon to say for sure. Regardless of their performance, I'm consistently finding they are just too large. Every device I try to put them in, it is incredibly difficult for them to fit. Trying to jam them in, and then later trying to get them out, I can see why people would say they have damaged cells in a short time - I almost always need a tool to remove them. Most recently I bought a flashlight that cracked when these oversized beasts were installed. Ridiculous. I give it two stars because at least in the few devices I can jam them into they've functioned well. I've bought these planning to switch most of my devices over, but that's not going to happen. ... show more

  • Acid leaks
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
I had these batteries for approx a year and a half in my trail cams. Although they work and all the technical jazz is up to par, you do need to charge them more and more as time goes by. Not a bad trade off for saving money over the long run I thought to myself. However, each one of my cams takes 8 batteries and all 3 had battery leaks. Bad ones. It rendered the cams unusable. So I lost a few hundred in replacing my trail cams, the cost of batteries and the chargers. In the long run, it does not pay. I'll stick with my original NimH batteries from now on, get longer usage and virtually no risk of damaging my electronic equipment. ... show more

  • Great battery for high current draw and infrequent use applications
Style: AA Size: 8-Pack Configuration: Batteries only
First of all I'd like to say that I like these batteries. Having recently gotten back into flash photography I've had an explosion in the number of batteries I've needed. Having not purchased any NiMH batteries for about 15 years I did a little research and found that these batteries came highly recommended. Let me begin with a little background on what led my decision. First, these batteries come precharged. This may seem insignificant but it implies two things. First of all they are ready to use out of the packaging: considering even a fast charger takes about 3 hours this is a boon for the impatient. The second implication is that they hold their charge on the shelf well (quoted at 85% capacity after 1 year, 70% capacity after 5 years). Given that my historic experience with NiMH was that they would lose 50% of their charge within about a month this is excellent. This matters a lot for me as I have 4 camera flashes that I use but 2 see far more use than the others but I know that, assuming I left them with some charge, the others will be good to go. The second factor is voltage. When fresh they given about 1.35V and their voltage stays relatively consistent through their discharge cycle down to about 1.2V. This is in contrast to an alkaline which typically starts at about 1.6V but drops rapidly through the discharge cycle until empty. For most purposes the voltage is sufficient (though some older devices may report "low battery") and goes along with the next factor. A typical alkaline's effective capacity decreases proportional to the current draw and provides less consistent voltage. The effective capacity of a NiMH remains relatively stable irrespective of the current draw as does the voltage. This means that for high current draw applications (such as a camera flash) the voltage doesn't dip causing the device to stop functioning temporarily or result in reduced effective life. The ability to deliver high current (low internal resistance) also means that in a device like a camera flash the recycle time is much shorter than with alkalines and doesn't drop as much as the battery discharges. Finally onto capacity. A flash is a spiky, high current drain on a battery which for many cell types is a worst case. I don't have a good point of comparison here, but when I tried some of these on remote triggers at matched power output vs alkalines; these had shown no dip in performance by the time the alkalines were reduced to unusable cycle times. I was also able to use them about the same amount the following day before needing to recharge suggesting that for my use case I get twice the usable life vs an alkaline. Overall these batteries work very nicely. I haven't compared them to the competition but having read some analysis by people who have, my informal assessment that these are high in performance, durability and capacity is echoed. ... show more
