I just got this and so far it’s great. It measured a full tank of propane right at 31.7 lb. I tried using one of those gauges that screw onto the propane tank but the reading was all over the place from use to use. I really like I can easily keep this stored in the box with the batteries removed for long term storage. It seems like a very well thought out device and is super easy to use. How well it holds up long term is yet to be seen but it should be fine. ... show more

This scale works great for measuring the amount of propane in a 20lb cylinder. It reads the total weight of tank and propane so that you have to subtract the typical tare weight of a 20lb cylinder, which is 17 - 18 pounds from the displayed reading to know how many pounds of propane are remaining. It would be nice if it could read directly in pounds of propane remaining, taking into account the typical tare weight. It does show the approximate remaining propane to the quarter of a tank. A great feature is that it holds the reading after you suspend the propane tank so you can move the scale to a more convenient eye level to see the reading. This is very handy. In regular weight mode as opposed to LP mode, it reads accurately. The display is lighted. Nice. Surprisingly, the included batteries are from Mitsubishi, not a no name, leak in a month outfit that will ruin your scale if you forget to take them out before storing the scale. The hook is sturdy. The fit and finish of the scale is very nice. It looks like a quality piece of kit. Bottom line, I like it a lot, but till wish it had an option to show the remaining propane not including the tare weight. ... show more

If you are basically just using one or two small propane tanks and don't need to know the exact amount of gas in your tank, then this is without a doubt the cheapist, easiest and best way to go. Personally, I got so tired of reading mixed reviews on virtually every digital read out gadget, and/or being dismayed at the outrageous costs. This device gives much more granular input than the scale in my Weber grill. It shows the color for full, mid-way or empty (Green, Yellow, Red) and it shows the actual weight of the tank and gas combo. Knowing the weight of the empty tank (aka the tare weight), then seeing the combo weight, enables me to understand exactly how much or how little gas is left. No more guessing. Worst part is that I have to remove the tank from the grill to assess. Only takes a minute out and another minute back, but wish there was a way (which I might yet figure out) to weigh while under the grill. ... show more
