First things first. It is a small rig with a ridiculously small oxygen tank. I understood that buying it. The Mapp gas valve takes a little fiddling to get the flame right. Just remember add a bit flow of fuel every time to try to light it. Add the oxygen until the flame is twice as big, and then turn down the Mapp until you get a very nice tight blue flame about 3/4 of an inch long. Brazing took twice as long as with my regular rig, yet the freedom from the heavy tanks makes it well worth it. Those are my first two test pipes. Yes, a bit sloppy, yet passed inspection! You need to be a bit extra patient getting them a nice cherry red. Yet it works and the joints are good! ... show more

Being a retired pipe fitter I am used to using professional torches. I bought this set up to do a little project that needed silver brazing. The flame that I needed was obtainable but there is a lot of adjusting needed. They are worth the money but not a bargain

    • Nice little setup has a few flaws but does the job.
This set replaces a Bernzomatic brazing torch I bought years ago which never worked well due to the terrible single valves on the bottle connectors, and no secondary valves at the handle. I could never get the flame to stay adjusted. Also, the stupid wire rack never held the bottles well. I use this for silver-soldering with Propane, mostly. It will braze with MAPP. General problems with this type of set: You need to know that these are only good for quick, light work. Oxygen does not last long in any of these sets that use disposable bottles! Oxy bottles are not cheap and prices are all over the place. I buy them at Lowe's or HD for about $12, compared to online at up to $25. No gauges. Pros: This set has valves on the bottle connectors and the handle, and the flame adjusts and holds very nicely. Easy to take on a small job, rather than lug a bigger rig. The addition of the stand is only about $8 more than buying without. The rack holds the bottles well during use and is nice for storage. About the same price (or less) than a Bernzomatic set. Cons: Not the highest quality. The plastic coating on the rack chips off easily. Mine got slightly bent in shipping, and a big chip came off. There's no built in way to secure the hoses on the rack for storage. The handle clip is kind of useless. A bit pricey, but a lot less than Smith. Only one tip is included. Little gripes aside, I find this well worth it for little jobs . Be aware, no cylinders are included. Some found this misleading because they are pictured; however, cylinders are not listed in the "What's Included" list. ... show more

This isn't very practical. & that detail isn't on the manufacturer, it's on me for my inadequate research prior to purchase. The oxygen gives u 12 to 20 minutes of use. And it costs around $12. So what cutting can u really get done in that small of window? If you using it to scrape metal, forget about your going backwards, and u probably have access to a larder blue wrench on wheels. I simply cannot think of a scenario where this fits into my life as usefull. It's co convenient, perhaps even fun, but at almost a buck a minute, no thanks. Seems made well, lights as it suppose to, easy to adjust and 2 tanks later (30 minutes give or take 1 or 2) never even tried to pop pop bang and go out on me like some do. Do she works as she should. Maybe u have a need for something like this. I certainly don't. Lastly, it's pictured with 2 tips, and both tanks. I realized the tanks were not included prior to purchase but I was expecting 2 tips.
