The breaker on our oven/stove top has gone out completely, and due to a couple of other, more serious issues cropping up at the same time, we won't be able to get it fixed for a few months. So, after a few weeks of "roughing it" with instant pot meals only, we decided to get a dedicated cooktop. And I wish we had ordered it as soon as the breaker went out, because this thing is fantastic! Works extremely well and does exactly what you would want a cooktop to do - cook lol. As others have stated, it's got a little plastic smell to it when you initially use it, but by the second use it was gone for us. It's also not as quick to heat as I was expecting it to be from the reviews, but I think that ultimately depends on what youre used to cooking on. For us, it's a little slow compared to our stove, but we have friends with comparable stoves to ours that lag far behind this cooktop in terms of heating speed. Regardless though, it's speed isn't too bad at all and very easy to get used to after a few uses! Especially for the price!!! The cast iron plates that transfer the heat do stay hot for a lot longer than glass or the traditional wire heating elements, so be aware of that after cooking! Usually takes about 20 minutes or so to cool to a safe touching temp from full high heat! However, imo it's the perfect trade off to not be able to drop food into the burner while cooking lol. All in all, a great cooktop! It feels great to able to properly cook in my own home again. If you have a similar situation to us, or just need a decent cooktop for travel or camping, I can't reccommend this cooktop enough! ... show more

This hot plate is an excellent deal. The price I paid was really good at the time I bought it. I love the ceramic burners, how much heat it puts out and the fact that there are two burners. I needed to have more burners while I was doing some canning. I had my regular stove full of my pressure canning pots and needed more space to do water bath canning. The bigger burner gets hot enough to can with the water bath. I was able to heat up water in a small pot on the smaller burner at the same time. It was crowded but I was able to do it. CAUTION! Due to the ceramic, the burners stay hot for a very long time so BE CAREFUL when done cooking. ... show more

I purchased this to cut on gas cost from stove which we don't use anymore. It sits perfectly on main stove. We already saw a difference in light bill, although the " fees" out cost any actual use of gas usage. As for this stove top, it's very nice looking, two sides which function & heats fast slow for boiling like 2-5 minutes. It does have a slight smoky scent sometimes but doesn't last long maybe 1-2 minutes. It's cast iron but upon a few uses the top left appears to show wear already ( coating). It's easy to clean up but you have to be careful to do so after appliance "cools" down because it stays hot. I usually turn off about 5 minutes before I am done cooking as it stays hot & I allow it to finish off my cooking like that. In cleaning: the button grade numbers on left side faded already so I have to figure the heat seating ( about a month after). It has heat settings and (dots) to keep as warmer. I like the size for pots resting on both sides. Just be careful what & how you clean so that you don't over scrub it and don't realize the imprinted number can fade with use. We don't cook all the time but works fine, can be stored, thick cord it's saving us money on light bill, the gas stove was costly but only be used for like turkey and larger baking for holidays. Arrived fine, but you need to learn to get familiar with the grading on heating, once you know your good to go. ... show more

it is safer than the open model but has a tendency to stain or discolor without the possibility of removing the stain since the surface gets very hot, It does an excellet job and automatically cuts off one it reaches a certain temperature, Highly recommend for those without a stove or has a stove that needs repair, consider the stove top oven to create a baking experience with this device. ... show more

    • Works but is very underpowered - boiling takes forever

I bought this to use while camping with a power bank that can support over 1000W, and it does work fine, but dang it's slow. I wasn't expecting it to take well over 20 minutes for a 2qt pot of water to boil. One key problem with it, is even on the highest setting it will cycle off/on before the water is even close to boiling point. This means it should be continuing to heat up but instead it's really just wasting time. Not sure why this happens but after watching a few youtube videos it seems normal for this model. I was able to cook a few different full meals on it, albeit slowly. I've cooked red beans and rice, made breakfast including eggs, bacon, sausage, cooked a dinner which included beef and pasta. It does work but it's very slow, and if you're using this outside and there's even a hint of wind, it will take much longer. If I was going to buy one of these type of units again I'd probably pay a bit more for an 1800W unit. ... show more
