Assembly instructions could have been a bit more descriptive, but there are a few review videos on YouTube to use. All in all it went together fairly easy and fired up with only minor questions.     • Great for the price
I bought this to see if I'd enjoy laser engraving. The laser has done everything I expected. I love trying new things and seeing what happens. The power is very limited, so glass and metal don't work well, if at all, but most other materials are fine. Easy to put together, easy instructions, easy to use. I have already upgraded and still plan to use one daily for rotary and less detailed projects. Update after 9 months - a total workhorse and part of my business. Very manual setup and requires much more babysitting compared to my other lasers, but still does quality work. I love this one and use it daily for specific orders. ... show more

    • 20W Laser - Not a Bad system
Works better than expected. Downloaded the free software (LaserGRBL) - not a fan. Seems like I can only import files to print. Not very intuitive. Definitely recommend LightBurn - 30-day trial and $40 going forward, but the interface is much more intuitive and you can actually create things to burn. However, the text seems to be limited to 2d block-style letters regardless of the font you choose. The assembly instructions are somewhat hard to follow - I'm an engineer by trade and I had to disassembly things a couple of times because the wording was difficult to follow (assuming translated from Mandarin). Once I got it together, it just worked. A lot to be said for that. Focusing the laser was very easy also - used the positive-stop cylinder provided to automatically set the distance between the laser and material I was etching. Overall I have this a 4 because of the setup, but it's a good little system that seems like it can etch and cut fairly well after some practice. I don't think someone without mechanical experience, and some minimal level with mechanics of materials would hit the ground running with this system, but it's definitely serving the purpose I bought it for. ... show more

    • Faulty motherboard out of the box, but is all my fault the wall outlet is not working
There is so many YouTuber that use this machine but I got lucky with a machine that doesn't work out of the box and the only problem that it has is the the machine is not getting no power supply from the wall adapter. I try to see what I was doing wrong I got help online and follow the advice during that time I didn't notice the my window of return was closing on me until was too late. Because I really want to keep the machine so now I have to deal with ortur all the way to china to return it or exchange it. NOW looking at there Chinese Amazon store is like 200 hundred dollars cheaper so now this may take a long time to get the machine exchange. After all very disappointed because the machine doesn't work out the box. I hope the I didn't trash over 400 hundred dollars lucky me!!! And all of this to find out the my wall outlet doesn't work I'm a fool thank you ORTUR great support and is the user most likely the one the mess thing up!! Like others have stated, there is a known problem with the late 2020 and early 2021 Laser Master 2's and their mother boards failing. The Ortur support group on Facebook has quite a few people posting on there regarding the exact same issues from Nov 2020 to early Feb 2021. I was recommended by other owners/users that I should've grounded the laser. No where in the manual, websites, Amazon or packaging does Ortur recommend this. The laser does not have any ground cables, comes with a 2 prong US plug and seems very sensitive to static electricity and voltage fluctuations. Example, do not turn anything on or off that is on the same circuit as the laser, else kiss your mother board good bye. I successfully engraved 1 logo on one of the sample pieces of wood that came with the kit. On day 2 the laser will not turn off and continuously burn holes into the material to be engraved at 100% power (major fire hazard if you are not paying attention). Only way to turn the laser off at this point is to disconnect the USB and Power cables. Laser is now engraving/burning areas that should not be engraved (laser does not turn off when moving). Laser will randomly stop and loose connection to my Mac even though LightBurn thinks the laser is still connected and running, even after switching USB cables. Ortur support seems ok. They do reply to messages. But I now have an investment sitting on my table that is not safe to operate and will not work correctly for almost 2 weeks and still yet to receive a tracking number on a new mother board. I do not know the exact price for a replacement mother board, but I have read in numerous places that they are costing users that purchased this from elsewhere around $100 a mother board. This is a very cool laser and I have a lot of jobs I would like to engrave and cut with it so I will be returning it in hopes that I will receive a newer model with an upgraded mother board and fingers crossed that this issue won't happen again. ... show more
