  • Works with my machine.
This walking foot was just what I needed as a beginning quilter. I was able to quilt a table runner perfectly.

  • Fits Singer Heavy Duty
Fits my Singer 4452 Singer Heavy Duty well. Functions well. Appreciate the open foot which makes precise placement of stitches easier and the forked end on the lifting arm which moves upper feed foot more reliably than other brands with a straight end that only rests on top of the sewing machine attachment. Only criticism is use of plastic on end of lifting arm and on the connection to sewing machine, both areas that take stress and could break. ... show more

  • Worked great, but then...
I bought this open-toed walking foot because it is easy to see exactly where the needle is going, really important for quilting 'in the ditch.' It worked beautifully until it started falling apart. First the foot plate fell off. I'm pretty handy so I figured out how it attaches and tightened the metal arms that hold it in place. That worked for a while, then it happened again; I tightened a tad more. Then a tiny screw fell out. I saw that it goes into the white housing (There is a matching one on the other side.) and tried to put it back in with a tiny Phillips screwdriver while the foot was still on the machine. I couldn't get it to 'bite,' so I took the whole assembly off and got a better look. Doing that showed me the tiny screw goes into the arm that holds the foot plate on. I tightened it in, with foot plate secure (I thought), put the assembly back on the machine and resumed sewing. Then I started hearing noises that didnt sound like parts were moving smoothly, then the foot plate fell off again! I've decided to give up and finish my quilt with the walking foot that came with my machine. It may be harder to see where the needle is, but maybe it won't fall apart. By the way, I love the forked arm that fits on the needle bar to control the upper feed dogs (more reliable than the single, non-forked bar that sits on the top and can get stuck), and the quilting guide bar that slides snugly into the back of the white housing. Great features, just not well made. Too bad. Of course it's Made in China. ... show more

  • Good walking foot
The product is fine, but no instructions on how to install the guide bar. I paid to get next day shipping, but did not get item until 2 days later. What was the point in paying extra?

  • Helpful with knits
I bought this to help with sewing knit fabrics and it does help but I still get a little shifting of the fabric but not as much as before. I also feel like I have to push to foot up a little more manually even after using foot lever.

  • Forked lever harder to use but is necessary
I bought this open toe walking foot a very soon after I bought one I hated. Granted, the lever of the old one rested on the needle bar, which makes the foot easier to install; however, that can allow the lever to get stuck in the up position so that the feed dogs don't work right, causing fabric to bunch up. So this current one has a forked lever that has to move up and down with the needle, a definite plus. This one also has plenty of space where the fabric goes, where the feed dogs are, whereas the one it replaced had so little space that it was hard to maneuver a quilt sandwich. Another thing that I preferred with the old one was that the piece where it screwed on the sewing machine was metal, and this current one is plastic, so I'll have to be careful when tightening it so I won't break it. I know that can happen, because I've done it before! Where it screws onto the sewing machine, if that piece were metal instead of plastic, I would give this review 5 stars instead of 4. ... show more
