  • This thing is amazing!
I got this because I was tired of having to re-thread my sewing machine just to fill a bobbin. What a treat that it fills the bobbin SO FAST!!! On the machine, I'd start the winding and then do something else while it finished. With this, I don't even have time to pick up something else - its already done! It winds with good tension and reasonably evenly (more evenly than my machine!) - no issues so far. It looks/feels a little on the cheesy side, with what seems like flimsy plastic pieces, but wow! - those pieces work fast! And really, we're just talking about winding thread, for goodness sake - it doesn't need to be super strong, just super functional. And it certainly is that! I use the AC adaptor, and just keep it plugged in. It's a neat little case that closes right up - so it doesn't even get dusty. Definitely a good purchase! ... show more

  • Great little machine!
Love this machine! It helps to not have to stop and undo my machine thread just to refill my bobbin! It’s durable, compact, fast and easy to use. Maybe slightly less noise than a regular sewing machine when using. Saves time and a good value for my money! Would buy again!

  • It works
I was in the midst of making a quilt when the bobbin winder portion of my 30+ year old Kenmore sewing machine decided to stop working. I chose the Simplicity bobbin winder because it seemed to have a few more positive ratings than some others which looked more elaborate and cost more. I received the winder very quickly. The instructions are not very good. There seems to be more information printed about safety precautions and interference with electronics and electronics interference with this machine (?), instead of writing clearer instructions. This took some trial and error to figure it out. I used the adaptor and when my first attempt to fill my empty bobbin failed (totally my fault as I didn't push the thread through the eye), I corrected my mistake, but then pushing the on button didn't turn it on. I unplugged the adaptor and then plugged it in and the bobbin began twirling, but I wasn't holding the thread at the beginning, so the bobbin wouldn't fill up. Eventually I got things going and the bobbin was filled, but the automatic stop didn't seem to want to activate, so without an off switch, I unplugged it and installed my bobbin into the sewing machine and continued sewing my quilt. My Simplicity filled bobbin worked fine. When it ran out, I inserted my empty bobbin into the winder and everything went fine, but the automatic stop did not work. I found that I could just take my finger off of the on button to turn it off this time around. Really, I'm OK with that. I unwound the excess and inserted the bobbin into my machine and the filled bobbin worked fine. So, overall, I am happy with my Simplicity bobbin winder, but I suspect better instructions would benefit the customer greatly (at least this customer). ... show more

  • Winds bobbins quickly!
My daughter has a sewing machine that won't wind the thread onto the bobbins. I'm sure that getting this fixed would cost more than this Bobbin Winder. This works and is so easy to use! I was teaching my granddaughters to sew and they loved using this!

  • Great, while it lasted! Stopped working!
This was such a help to me, but after about 10 bobbins (over 5 months, not all at once) it just stopped working! Soooooo disappointed. I do not recommend this brand.

  • Shame on Simplicity
It's shame they did not put more into this little gadget. It's very cheaply made, like... Chinese 1$ toy cheap. No one seems to make a bobbin winder that is truly any good. I read a review on this compared to the 99$ version of the same thing and she said that honestly this one was the better of the 2. How sad is that? Yes it winds bobbins. I won't say they are beautifully wound bobbins but it does wind them. I want to say it's a sorry piece of crap, but I'll refrain because it does do the intended job and for 26$ it's a handy back up choice. I had to have it because I broke the bobbin plate on my Janome S7 and while waiting for the replacement part I needed to wind bobbins. I looked at every available machine on the web and Amazon at price points from this to 128$, none have good reviews and are completely hit and miss as to function and quality. So here we are. For me this will only be used as a backup source and not as something I would want to use every day. The bobbin was tough getting on the spindle, I had to jam it on there. The thread spool holder pulls up and is terribly wobbly, epic design fail. 🤷 The stop start button can get stuck down. It's a bit ridiculous really. ... show more

  • Nice little idea.
This works perfectly. I like the small design. I do use my finger to guide the thread up and down to make it spool evenly. But I do that on my machine as well so it is not a big deal.
