Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a reliable and versatile sewing machine that can handle a variety of projects, from heavy-duty to delicate fabrics, the Janome HD3000 is a great choice. Its ease of use makes it suitable for both beginners and experienced seamstresses. However, those seeking a simpler machine for very basic tasks might consider its features more than necessary. With its overall positive reviews, purchasing this machine could be a solid investment into your sewing future.

  • Powerful and not too loud w/ storage
This is a wonderful mechanical machine. It can handle thick and thin fabrics. The rolled hem foot included is fantastic and simple to use. I really like the storage for the feet and the foot pedal. It's comparable with the Husqvarna Emerald. The Janome has more storage and releases the fabric more easily. The Emerald is more quiet & powerful and it has a needle up / down option. But doesn't have as much storage as the Janome. They are very similiar. ... show more

  • After brief, but easily-solved feed dog issue, this performs like a dream
After a bad start, in which the feed dogs would not raise in response to my following the instructions, this machine has performed like a dream. Hint: if that happens to you, simply flip the machine upside down, remove the bottom cover, futz with the spring-loaded feed dog arm, replqce the bottom cove, flip it back up, and the feed dogs will be up, and you can sew. I taught my hubby how to sew on this machine, taking him through every part and procedure, and he caught on quickly, and had a very pleasant beginning sewing experience. It’s easy to thread, wind and load the bobbins, change the tension, pressure, stitches, and feet. We’re working on sailboat projects: sheetbags, sails, curtains, you name it, this machine does it. Oh, when I called Janome’s Customer Service number and left a message, JP called me back within the hour, and he was very pleasant. It is not uncommon for the feed dog spring-loaded lever inside the machine to get whacked out of alignment during shipping, which mine had, but was easily, simply, and quickly fixed by me! ... show more

  • Great machine with a lot of handy features
Love the machine. It adapts well to different fabrics and has a nice stitch. I wish the cord to the foot control were longer, but it works ok if sitting down. Sometimes I like to stand and then it is a bit short. Lots of nice attachments and the buttonhole feature is pretty easy to use. All in all, I am pleased. ... show more

  • I am happy with the HD3000
Since receiving this machine for Christmas, I have sewn a pair of heavy denim jeans and a pair of corduroy pants. The HD-3000 handled both projects well. I also used heavy duty top-stitching thread and with a fine zig-zag to free-sew the button-holes with no knotting problems. I haven't used the machine with silky fabric, but I am already very happy. One further comment; in taking a different mechanical machine for repair,I noticed a sign saying digital machines had a minimum repair cost $25 higher than for mechanical machines. Lastly, I recently ordered and used a Janome cording foot to do a light upholstery project with perfect results. I'm happy. ... show more

  • Do not buy this machine
I am an experienced seamstress and this machine is not a good buy. I have found it locally for almost $100.00 less. The most important part of my review is that it did not run well for me. Out of the box, the set up was easy, threading was easy, but the stitches were uneven and looping. I adjusted many times and the stitches were not straight. The machine is mechanical and if it had performed better, I would have taken the time to figure out all the other stitches it offered. Since I could not get a good straight stitch, I feel that this machine is not a good one for me. I have had Janome's in the past and they performed wonderfully; but only lasted 4 years. I use my machines heavily. ... show more

  • Well built, easy to use, great general sewing machine. Love my Janome HD3000!!!
I did some research prior to buying The day my old machine started acting up, I pushed the "order" button. I was working on a covid project at the time, to surprise local healthcare workers and some of their in home clients with homemade retro kitchen aprons. Something that could brighten their days. I finished 60 aprons and delivered them before Christmas. It was a great project and the Janome is a terrific machine. ... show more
