We bought this for a friend for Christmas who is only 30, but has always been sort of an "old soul". He likes smoking a pipe and drinking bourbon... so we thought this was a perfect gift! He really got a kick out of it and loved it. We thumbed through a lot of it before wrapping it and liked the book a lot. We might even get one for ourselves.     • Solid on recipes and stories, lean on the "barstool wisdom"
The drinks and the stories are great, just what I expected. The barstool wisdom and advice is a bit silly, it's just random (often a bit sexist) quotes from random guys with little to no strong through-line, intent or even comedic value. Our response when reading through was not much laughter as a deflated, "oh, well... okay. the recipes look good anyway" Pretty good for the bar, not great for conversation. ... show more
