  • Some Really Great Features and Yet Some Not So Great Features
Color: White
This incubator has me perplexed. It has some really great innovative features as a hobbyist incubator, but also some shortcomings. Here are the positives: (1) I like that the manufacture has utilized the packaging material as part of the insulation for the incubator. It serves two purposes and that seems mindful to me. (2) Using a plastic liner allows for easy cleaning. The rollers and mesh tray are plastic, too. (3) Having an easy way to add water is a positive (although my unit was missing the top of the humidifier bottle). (4) The handy candler on the top of the unit is great (especially for those of us...(uh, me)...that seem to always misplace their candler. (I do want to state that my light assembly was not assembled on arrival. I had to fix this problem). (5) The incubator runs on AC or DC (12 volt) power so it is versatile to off-grid or on-grid situations. You could also run the unit through a DC backup system in case you live in an area with spotty AC service. (6) The unit measures both the temperature and relative humidity. (7) The incubator has an alarm if the internal environment falls below the settings (both temperature and humidity). (8) The incubator is suitable to multiple sized eggs. Here are the negatives: (1) The wires connecting to the rollers are extremely thin and within the hatching chamber. I have hatched thousands of chickens over my lifetime, and I know when peeps hatch they can move around and just “flop” down. I see the small wires as either a hindrance to small birds or the birds may tear them out. Alternatively, and since you don’t use the rollers during the final 3 hatch days, you could disconnect the wires and tape them to the hatching box to prevent birds from getting tangled in the wires. It just seems like there is no easy way to dealing with the wires in the hatching chamber. I would like to see a channel or some way of keeping the birds and the wires separated. (2) When in use, the fan noise is very evident. (3) Many of the components are “hot glued” in place. This just seems like an inferior method of assembly to me. I plugged the unit in and the temperature and humidity matched my personal thermometer/humidity meter. I believe the thermostat is accurate. Overall, I give the incubator four stars. I am disappointed that the top of the humidity bottle was missing and that I had to fix the wiring to the light before using it. ... show more

  • Finicky humidity at first, but we have #4/6 chick-filled eggs!
Color: White
What? So easy??? I will be the FIRST buyer to post pics of chicks! We are looking at #4/6 eggs that caught on and have all the tell-tale markings of living chicks inside. As soon as they were pooped out, we set 6-pastured eggs on the rollers. (We marked them gently with pencil as instructed beforehand). I have to be honest and say that maintaining the humidity just right is a pain and the little instruction booklet does not mention how often you have to squirt the water into the container. (-1) I have allowed my kids to manage this (under my watchful eye) and they seem to squirt water into the container at least TWICE DAILY to maintain the desired humidity of 45-55-degrees for the first 18-days. (Sometime, even three times per day as we live in the driest, hottest climate in the US). The actual temperature of the warmer maintains itself at around 99.9-100.1 at all times. This is the only portion of this warmer that is set-it and forget-it and it’s fabulous! The egg turner works at a snail’s pace so you won’t see the eggs turning unless you stare for a while. It’s very subtle but they do turn. I’m actually so excited to have little chicks and cannot believe how easy it has been thus far. Eager to update this review in a couple of days. 😊 ... show more

  • A good option for rookies and veterans alike.
Color: White
I’ve been getting an off-grid property up and running for the past year or so and have dipped my toe into various homesteading activities. I have not gotten through a batch of eggs in this model yet because it’s not the right time of year for me, so all I can speak to is first impressions and quality. Out of the box, I was pretty happy. It went together easily. The instructions were quite good. There are plenty of videos online where you can watch what to do with this item in addition to what’s provided. The sides were crystal clear and the entire device seems adequately strong and durable. The components were solid and sturdy and all the moving parts moved easily and smoothly. It should handle and turn a variety of egg sizes without difficulty. Temperature and humidity seem properly controlled and easy to adjust and manipulate. On a run without eggs, I was able to hold both temp and humidity to my approval. When done, it looks pretty easy to keep clean from batch to batch. I can’t wait to run my first eggs through this. I also do a lot of work with youth groups and we focus a lot on the trades as a career, STEM and self-sufficiency. This has been a fun activity for us. ... show more

  • Small footprint
Color: White
For small-scale hatching this is a great item. Handy features, with a tenths of a degree precision in temperature, a humidity reading, convenient ports to add water as needed, an automatic egg turner, and a foam insulated shell to keep the temperature stable. It's a little bit louder than average between the motor and the fan, but nothing too offensive. Egg candler is bright. There is a regular wall outlet A/C power cord and another that looks like you can connect to battery terminals if you're incubating during a power failure or something. Biggest criticisms are size - I can only fit 20 quail eggs -- and placement of the wiring for the egg turner... it runs between the top and the base so it's either in the way or too short (I just tape mine to the wall to keep it out of the way and work carefully so as not to rip it). Still would recommend as a good solution for small scale hatching needs. ... show more
