Because its plates are made of pure virgin lead (unlike the lead alloy in most batteries), ODYSSEY packs more plates in. More plates mean more plate surface area, and much more power. Twice the overall power and three times the life of conventional batteries, up to 400 cycles at 80 percentage depth of discharge. These batteries are built for a range of performance from everyday vehicles, classic and antique cars, high performance cars, 4x4 and Off-Road, to modified vehicles. Its construction consists of pure virgin lead plates for maximum surface area and optimized recycling, AGM (absorbed glass mat) design that eliminates acid spills, high conductivity, corrosion- resistant tin-plated brass terminals, high integrity terminal seal, a sealed design resulting in gases recycled internally, a self-regulating relief valve, tough flame retardant cell containers and robust internal cell connections to prevent vibration damage. ODYSSEY batteries beat spiral-wound. Compared to spiral-wound batteries of equal size, ODYSSEY batteries pack 15 percentage more plate surface area into the case. Avoiding the dead space between cylinders in six-pack designs means ODYSSEY batteries deliver more power and 40 percentage more reserve capacity.

Dropped into my 2010 Ford Expedition without issue. Packaging was excellent and it arrived in perfect condition. Out of habit I hooked up my charger to the new battery to check and top off its charge. Charge was at 85% when it arrived and took a full charge very quickly. I'm sure the alternator would have topped it off after a little driving. Cranking power is phenomenal. I noticed that cranking was slow with the Optima Red Top this battery is replacing. With this battery I turn the key and the truck starts immediately. Time will tell how it holds up but initial impressions are very good. It's not a cheap battery but I feel that it was money well spent. 2/11/2019 Update: After having a solid experience in my truck I bought a second one of these batteries, this time for the wife's truck. Right out of the box it had a 95% charge. It's a perfect fit for the 2015 Ford Explorer Sport and the truck starts right up without hesitation. So far so good with both batteries. ... show more

I have a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado with the 500 engine as my daily driver. It has been modified to increase horsepower. This is the most powerful battery available and provides reliable and easy quick starts. If you have a big engine, this is the right battery for you. This is my second one. This battery is well worth the cost! The OEM batteries typically lasted me 2-3 years. Went through 2 of those, and the nasty thing with the OEM batteries is that they both suddenly died with very little advance signs of something being wrong. I remember that my last OEM battery showed some hesitation at lunchtime. Then I got stranded later the very same day. Not with the Odyssey. At 6 years, 9 months of use, my first 65-PC1750T started showing its age. When starting the truck, I noticed a slight hesitation but it always started. After noticing this for a few weeks, I was getting convinced that the battery was about to go out, so I ordered a new one and replaced in order not to risk getting stranded. (Sure enough, the new battery made things normal again). Looking at the manufacturing date of the old 65-PC1750T, I noticed that it was exactly 7 years old! Pretty good for a battery in a daily driver. (I have another Odyssey in my Viper Roadster that I installed at the same time - 7 years ago - and it's still working flawlessly, but then again, that's not a daily driver and it's on a battery tender). ... show more

    • Great battery, poor support
Overall this has been a great battery. At about 3.5 years into owning the battery it started failing. Wouldn’t hold a charge more than a few days. Had the battery tested. At 100% charged it was at 40% capacity. There was at least one cell that had failed. I contacted EnerSys for a warranty claim and it was denied. Even with all the data from Napa Auto-parts they had no interest in honoring the 4 year warranty. The battery would constantly discharge. It sat on the workbench waiting for the warranty claim for 3 days and went from 100% to 20%. But EnerSys insisted it was a good battery. Fortunately there are other brands out there. ... show more

The last set of these batteries I bought lasted 7 years!! And I spend a lot of time in the hot Florida Sun and also the Sub-Zero Vermont temperatures. I would recommend these batteries to anyone. JB Auto always seems to have the best prices

Bought two of these for my 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel. These engines need a lot of cranking power, and options are narrowing as time goes on. In the past, there have been good options for high Cold Cranking Amp (CCA) batteries such as Motorcraft BSD-65 (900 CCA) or what I had most recently, the Motorcraft BXT-65-850 (850 CCA), neither of which is available anymore. Sears used to offer an Odyssey-equivalent, made by the same company Enersys and re-branded as Sears Die Hard Platinum AGM (absorbed glass mat); however, this too has been discontinued. The next level down AGM was a Sears Gold AGM, but this only has 775 CCA. It would still start, but I don't like to mess around with things like this. I think the "major" brands don't find it profitable to sell a high cranking battery, as most folks don't need them. So, I had to go a bit more high end to get the cranking I wanted - enter the Odyssey 65-PC1750T. These things are MONSTERS with 950 CCA - even higher than the long-gone, rare, and coveted Motorcraft BSD-65. Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) is awesome! Never have to check the electrolyte level again, no venting/spilling/etc. My truck also sits a lot, and these batteries handle that well as they are both a "sprinter" (high burst cranking) and a "long distance runner" (capable of deep discharging and re-charging). Most batteries are one or the other. These are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Super high quality. Mega cranking. Just check the weight on these bad boys - SIXTY POUNDS of pure lead. Other batteries such as Optima Red Top for my application are about 38 pounds. ... show more

    • Absolutely fits a 2011 Ford F150
Amazon says it doesn't fit this truck, but it absolutely does - like a glove. As for power? HAHAH It literally makes me laugh. STORY TIME! Right when all this Corona virus crap hit in the initial wave I had to change apartments. One week before the actual move out date - truck's dead. I went to the local shops and none of them had this battery in stock on the shelf; had to order. None of them could get it to me faster than ordering direct so...here we go. Ordered. Arrived. Swapped it in for the crappy factory battery. Cranked up faster and stronger than it ever had before and running strong ever since. I do not suspect I'll have any problems....in this lifetime or the next....with this battery. LOL Excellent battery. Will buy again. 100% recommend. ... show more
