  • Amazing!
If you've never done VR, it's one of those once in a lifetime, breathtaking moments the first time you don this piece of headgear and become immersed in the world it paints around you. At least it was for me, and the first 15 minutes using the Rift absolutely affirmed my purchase decision. The packaging is top notch and works as a safe case to store the headset and peripherals in. While there isn't much in the written instructions, once you go to the setup web page and install the app, installing the unit and getting started becomes seamless. Once the guide is done helping you fit the headset to you and calibrating the sensors, you'll be dropped into a new world and realize all of the capabilities and potential for VR in an amazingly well put together and immersive tutorial. By the end, you are already imagining the things you want to try as you are placed into the VR "home room" where you can browse and start using VR apps and exploring. Sensor tracking and head tracking seemed very fluid to me. Sometimes you need to take the headset off to make certain changes on the computer desktop regarding the operation of the unit. Take care to avoid letting greasy hair or skin rub against the lenses. I had to use the wipe they included to clean the lenses any time I tried resting the display on my forehead above my eyes. Just a minor nuissance. My PC build (AMD Ryzen 5 1600 + Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Graphics) is on the low end of the Rift's minimum specs, and gameplay can be much less smooth if you don't manage the graphics settings to maintain a good frame rate. Any drops below 45 FPS will look choppy. 90+ FPS is recommended. The resolution is lower and some of the higher end graphics settings won't be visible to you with the Rift and will only waste processing power. Even at the worst moments, I never felt uncomfortable looking into the head display and rarely lost immersive feeling of the virtual world around me. Great purchase, and playable with just a ~$500 computer build. ... show more

  • The oculus rift cv1 is great. A MUST BUY if you have money and love videogames as much as I do!!
Right off the bat I loved the vr headset. It came with 2 sensors, 2 touch controllers and the headset. The vr experience itself was amazing and the games are great. I have a Oculus Rift Dk2 and the pixels on there was easily seeable, buttt on the CV1 it's literally the hardest thing to spot!! I can't see them, I tried looking for it when I was in a white room and to be honest the pixels were so hard to see that it took me around 30 sec just too find one. Once I saw the pixel I quickly unseen it like it was never there. I really wish that there were more free games on oculus sense I paid $480 and plus an extra $800 for a vr ready pc, but on the other hand the paid to play games look great and I understand why they make you pay. The strap on the headsets are easily adjustable and no need to take off the headset to do so. One thing that I was scared about was the lenses and if my bad eyesight see them as blurry or not.. turns out its clear as day! My mom uses glasses and she took them off when playing the rift it very clear for her. Some bad things: The lense glare when looking at text is a little annoying but it's fine. 2 sensors is not enough please buy 3. The lense adjustment system is alittle clunky I wish it was alot smoother. ... show more

  • Amazing!
I've had a few HMD VR units in the past and had the idea that VR was more of a novelty thing. I also felt that an HMD is only as good as the software available. Then, I tried the Oculus Rift. Granted, I had to buy an expensive video card that was half the price of the Oculus to go with it, but it's the interactive aspect that really brings VR to life. My previous sets, one had a joystick (with no base) that you used, and the other had a circle/puck type controller. Neither gave that full immersive feeling. 20 years later and the game is definitely changing! Just going through the intro "game" is mind blowing. The controllers are super sensitive and provide so much control it's amazing. The only issue we had was getting kicked out of a game multiple times, then realized that my son was logging into his Steam account, which was kicking us out of the game because it was shared from his account. The 7 games included with the Marvel bundle will provide MANY hours of enjoyment before you even need to look in the store to purchase additional games. One level in Marvel Powers United had my arms and shoulders sore. Rec Room, although not having the best graphics, is a TON of fun. From paintball to a mini tennis style game, interaction with others online can lead to a blast. It also will put the account into 'Junior' mode for younger players that turns off audio. This is excellent, as we all know online games with audio tend to draw a toxic crowd. Robo Recall! INTENSE! Anyway, if you have any interest in the current state of VR, you will not be disappointed. If your system specs meet the recommended (not sure about minimum) requirements, just buy it! ... show more

  • The God Rays were so bad!!
Received this headset and returned it right back because the God-like ray Artifacts were so ridiculous in this headset. I have heard it varies in each headset and am hoping to get a better one. I have tried others and did not seem to see as many as I did with this specific item. Besides that, I love the concept of VR and I think they nailed it besides the wonky software updates that occasionally cause issues. My biggest complaint is the fact that they did not go with different lenses. The lenses should not be having these artifact issues with a consumer product, but I guess that is what you get for a first generation headset. Hoping I find that gem that works great, because I loved the games when I could fully imerse myself in them without being distracted. ... show more
