This is a pretty basic but capable scanner without many frills. I have an OBDLink MX+ scanner that costs 4 times what this one did for when I need to write maintenance intervals and read ABS data but it requires bespoke software on your phone and usually needs an internet connection also. I wanted a simple code reader/resetter to take on the road with me and this looks to be just what the Dr. ordered. I plugged it into my ‘22 Nissan and it immediately recognized it as CANBUS and powered up. No codes were present and it let me know. Real time data from many sensors like rpm, O2 sensors, battery voltage, fuel trim, etc. is available in the form of graphs. No fancy instrument looking gauges but the function is there. There is a code lookup function but I doubt it has any vehicle specific code help. You’ll still need to use the net for that but the basic info like ‘bank one O2 sensor’ is there. It’s easy to read and navigate menus although I found myself trying to ‘touch’ the screen. Didn’t work, lol. Much better than the old, one line displays of my previous scanners. ... show more

OK, I’m not sure what the problem is on this. But I have a 2010 Lincoln navigator that has no check engine lights and is running perfectly. This thing cannot figure out the oxygen sensors, it cannot figure out if it’s in open or closed loop, and basically doesn’t give any useful information beyond RPM and battery power. I am super disappointed. If you look at the pictures above, it’s telling me I have an oxygen sensor on bank three? Really? The data does not make sense because it is not picking up the right data points and mapping them correctly and it is just plain missing other data points.     • This is a obd2 scanner to read codes on your vehicle
This is an entry level obd2 scanner for checking codes on your gas car or truck. I had a check engine light on my dash and hooked it up under the dash and read the codes on my vehicle. This can save you money by letting you know what code it is. In my case, the gas cap was not screwed all the way down and was loose. I googled the code online that displayed and several sites said to check the gas cap. Note: your code may differ from the one I discovered on my vehicle. This is such a helpful tool to keep in the garage. It helps diagnose small things you can fix yourself and bigger things you have to bring the car to a mechanic for. It also will help potentially reduce costs of having a mechanic diagnose what might be wrong. Also a good way to test how reliable a mechanic might be. This ODB2 scanner is pretty quick at establishing communication and downloading codes. Has pretty broad live data access and some graphing of metrics like coolant temp. It's a step up from a basic code reader. My only complaint is the buttons are huge rubber blocks that require a lot of energy to press. It makes navigating the interface slow.
