Description

The Novoflex Lens Mount Adapter allows a Leica R type lens to be mounted onto a Leica M type camera. Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering) or any other functions are not retained using this adapter. In this case you will have to meter in "stop-down mode", since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body. The current version of this adapter comes with a special 6-bit marking on the camera side to bring up the Leica R-lenses menu in your Leica M 240 digital camera.

  • Worth the high asking price
Style: Sony-E Body
I’m sure many of you looking at this adapter are fully aware of the cheaper alternatives around $20-$30. But let me confirm for you that this adapter is worth the asking price. I have the cheaper adapters and while they do the job, their construction is questionable for the long haul. Granted, you can always buy another if it fails, but if you are a working professional, such a failure is not worth anticipation. The novoflex is no doubt expensive. But, consider the price of the lenses you are attaching and it’s a non-issue if you are making money with your photos. A failure is not an option when on the job. The novoflex is precisely made, as you’d expect of a product made in Germany. The lens absolutely mounts as though it is connecting to an R series Leica body. I’m contrast, the cheaper adapters are hit and miss - some are too tight, some a bit loose. You’re mileage will vary. I’ve also read if users who have had the cheaper adapters fail and break with the mount still attached to the lens. A pain to remove in some cases. Rest assured, the novoflex is simply a perfectly manufactured adapter for your R lenses. You should not hesitate and buy it over the cheaper alternatives. ... show more

  • Worth the extra cost
Style: Sony-E Body
This adapter isn't terribly complicated and works as expected. The mounts are smooth when attaching to the camera as well as when attaching lens. I also tried the metabones and the fotodiox adapters and found them lacking in a number of ways. They both allowed the lens focus to go beyond infinity which was really obvious/annoying when using a lens the the Elmarit 1:2.8/24 which has a square hood which was obviously not square with the camera. I also found the other adapters harder to use with respect to how tight the lens is on the adapter. Obviously, you don't want the lens to be loose but you also don't want to have to use all your strength to mount and unmount a lens. I own for Leica R lenses - the Elmarit 24, Summicron 50 and 90, Apo-Telyt 180 (with a 2X extender). All of these lens work as well as they did on my old Leica R8. It's a pleasure to be using these lenses again. If you own some nice Leica glass, spend the extra money and get the Novoflex adapter, well worth it and I wish I bought it first before messing around with the cheaper adapters. ... show more

  • The item has a sturdy feel to it and is immaculately machined and painted
Style: Sony-E Body
The item arrived on time snugly in its own little plastic box with the literature folded underneath, packaged in a small cardboard box surrounded by large plastic air bubbles. The item has a sturdy feel to it and is immaculately machined and painted. It rotated smoothly onto and off my new Sony a7r. I tried it with my Leica 28mm, 50mm, 90mm, and 135 lenses each of which rotated onto and off the adaptor smoothly. Fit appeared to be tight at all junctures. Observed no evidence of leaked light in a bunch of photos of my wife's flowers in noon daylight. Images compared favorably (viewed on my MacBook Pro retina screen) with the same shot taken with the same lenses with my Leica R6 on Velvia 50 and scanned in at 4000 dpi, JPG format. I am perfectly satisfied with my purchase and my shopping experience with Focus Camera. Thank you and keep up the good work. ... show more

  • Nice fit to our vintage M2
Style: Leica M Body
Used this adapter to fit an 80’s leitz 50mm lens to my wife’s ‘64 Leica M2. Fit perfectly, but still waiting on a test roll to be developed. Don’t anticipate any issues as it appears to be well made and fit snugly. I tried a $30 made in China adapter and it wouldn’t lock to the body. This one is made in Germany, so I thought I’d try it before plunking down the extra cash for the one made by Leica($395). **Update - got some film back and the adapter worked perfectly, no distortion or light leaks ... show more

  • Well made
Style: Canon EF Body
I have the photodiox(sp?) version of this adapter and it's why I bought this one. The other is horribly hard to put on and take off. It does the job, but I'm afraid it's beating up my mounts. This one is as smooth as and mount I've ever used and the infinity focus seems right on. I wish it was chipped for focus confirmation for this price! Today's DSLRs just aren't built for manual focus. ... show more

Yes, it's very expensive for what it do, but I didn't find a cheaper-quality alternative Performance is excellent, it keep the lens tightly and firmly attached to the camera Sure I'd recommend it to others.
