    • Awesome night vision goggles
I ordered these night vision goggles just before a camping trip to a national forest and was pretty excited about testing them on a trail for a short hike and just all round at our camp site at night. I hiked the trail with my family which began right next to our camp site in the morning to make sure I was fairly familiar with it and then I set off on my own in the evening with a flash light and the NVGs. The trail was manageable with the flash light but it was really something else, fascinating and exciting with the googles! Crystal clear: I could see for a fair distance and make out details with ease. Honestly this success alone would be enough for me to declare this product a winner, but I have to add that I had previously also tested out various features and it proved to me that the NVGs are quite cool in more ways than one. The kits comes with a 32GB SD card so you can record as well. It also has 8 x digital zoom, which is neat if you spot an animal at distance that you want a closer look at.. The NVGs come with a buckle to attach to a helmet if you wish and a nice carrying case. It's not exactly light when mounted to your head but it is acceptable for what it is and in fact considerably lighter than the larger higher speced ones. I think the compromise works in this ones favor as I think the image quality is very nice and would probably suit most 'civilian' needs... The buttons on the side are straight forward to use and learn for control of the various Infrared modes, night modes and pretty neat color modes, recording settings etc.. Also it is waterproof and should be able to handle rain and snow... It seems fairly sturdy and the build quality seems high, it comes a with a good instruction booklet and I think it is priced fairly as well. If you are going camping or hunting this is a pretty cool piece of equipment to have along with you... ... show more

These really are pretty cool. Excellent clarity and visibility in pitch black which is really cool. Only a couple of complaints. The profile of the rubber than rests against your face isn't very curved. It doesn't even come close to sealing around my face as I believe it should. Also, the default view is fairly zoomed in. That makes it a bit difficult or awkward to navigate in close quarters. Definitely no problem in an open setting outside, but definitely an issue if being used indoors. Excellent quality for the price though, so I'm happy. ... show more

    • cheap plastic, okay as a toy but not for real use
tl;dr - you get what you paid for First impression, it's too lightweight, the plastic case and buttons make me feel this is just a low-end toy. The instruction manual isn't well written, it took me a while to figure out how to focus the lens and zoom in/out properly. On the plus side, it does provide a travel case, and the head gear is sturdy, and it does the basic things alright. After a few days use, I decide that I will probably return it. It doesn't come close to a real night vision goggle that I was looking for. I can hardly adjust the focus as the focus wheel is stuck/tight, and the zooming feature is a complete joke. I probably will end up spending a lot more to get a real military quality one. ... show more

    • Decent value night vision
These night vision binoculars are good for the price. Do not expect military quality as these are not even close, but for civilian use such as hunting or checking for critters in the yard, they're more than sufficient. We have 10 acres and the IR lights up a coyotes eyes out to 150+/- yards They are binoculars, but the zoom is digital some some clarity is lost during the zoom in. There is no optical zoom like regular binocs. The included SD card is a great touch as you can take a picture of whatever you happen to be looking at. The buttons take some getting used to, but once you've figured them out are simple to find and use. I really liked the mounting options. It comes with a headband which is surprisingly sturdy and allows you to lock the binoculars in an upright position. The best part is the helmet option mount. I wasn't expecting the mounts to be this sturdy. A nice sturdy storage case is included, but fitting everything back in after use requires some disassembly of the mounts. As long as your expectations are realistic, these are great for civilian use and feel sturdy enough to last along time. ... show more

    • Fun new toy
Night Vision Goggles with Head Strap, March 2024 I got these for my travels. I enjoy staying in primitive campsites with no artificial lights. These allow me to check my surroundings without a light if I happen to be camped near other people. I hope to be able to see more wildlife as well. As a birder, nighttime birding is usually done by ear. With these, it may be possible to observe as well, making the experience all the richer. The photo and video can capture those images for later analysis. During the day, I often take a picture now to ID the bird later and these facilitate that at night, too. At this point, I've only done some preliminary testing and have found everything to work as expected. There is a bit of a learning curve required to remember which buttons do what at night when you can't see them. This is especially true for buttons that have multiple functions depending on the mode being used. Because you don't actually look through a lens to see something in the distance but rather look at the screen a few inches into the goggles, I find I have to wear my reading glasses to use the goggles. There are instructions for attaching the goggles to a helmet but not for the strap. It was easy to figure out so didn't pose a problem. While the goggles are very light in hand, I do find the goggles a bit heavy when using the headstrap and feel like they need a counterweight in the back. One thing I do miss is some sort of quick release to free the goggles from the strap. Instead, it must be completely removed which leaves a small magnetic screw that could easily be lost if not immediately reattached to the magnet on the strap. I'm looking forward to using then on my upcoming road trip and expect to get a lot of use from them along the way. I'll report back if anything unexpected comes to light. ... show more
