🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The thermal imager is praised for its portability and clear image quality, particularly in high-definition modes and various environments. It's valued by hunters, law enforcement, and military personnel for tracking, with recognition for its lightweight design and multiple powering options. Some users note the need for external batteries due to short internal battery life and a lack of accuracy in battery level indicators.

Pros

  • 👁 Great for close-range support, providing sharp and detailed imaging
  • 🎒 Extremely lightweight and portable, with the ability to fit in a pocket
  • ⚙️ Offers multiple battery options including external power banks
  • 📷 On-board video and photo recording capabilities
  • 💧 IP67 water resistance confirmed by users, though not officially documented

Cons

  • 🔋 Inaccurate battery indicator leading to sudden shutdowns
  • 🛠 Necessity for external batteries, as the internal battery life is limited
  • 🔄 Users may need to adjust the diopter manually for clarity
  • ❗ Some users reported the need for an adaptor to attach to a J-arm

Should I Buy It?

If you need a thermal imager that's portable, with a variety of powering options, and do not require long-distance imaging, this product could be a great investment. However, be prepared to manage potentially unreliable battery life and consider acquiring an external battery pack for longer use.

  • Expensive toy, but useful too
This little device is much smaller than I expected. This is good as it is really lightweight, but it is small especially if you have big hands. As for function, I have never used a thermal imaging device before so I have no basis to compare this to, with that said, this is a cool toy! I have acreage and often wonder what wildlife is out there and often my night vision scope just doesn't cut it. This will point out any heat source. I even saw a little white dot in a tree about 60 feet away. Wondering what that could be, I was perplexed until the little white dot flew up to a feeder that was 25 feet away and I could clearly see the sharp white silhouette of a hummingbird! I would have never seen the hummingbird without the FLIR. It also makes it easier to find my dog at night. Now, let's go find Sasquatch! ... show more

  • Great product if your looking for thermal imager for close ...
Great product if your looking for thermal imager for close range support. It was not designed for long range scanning and weapon mounting. If you can live with that, then this product is for you. It is extremely light weight and works very well mounted on a helmet. Very great picture definition for a 320 sensor. Not the sharpest sensor on the market or widest FOV, but it does bring a lot to the table for it’s decent price. It makes a world of a difference for hunters, law enforcement or military personnel who are tracking a person or an animal. The product has two downfalls in which I hope FLIR fixes with a firmware update. - The Battery indicator is inaccurate. It would indicate a full battery and then the unit will shut off without notification because the battery died. This is deadly if you are using this to track a suspect as it’s advertised to be used. - The preview selection does not allow you to preview the pictures or videos. For the most part this unit continues to impress me when I use it in different environments. Very sharp and detailed imaging of your environments. And the outdoor alert setting uses a black hot palette but introduces a red highlight of objects or animals that stand out in the environment. Very cool palette setting. Also I have been trying to contact FLIR on the water resilience of this product and still have not received an answer back. I found one website that listed it at ip67 which is 3 meters for 30 min. ... show more

  • Small scope packs a lot of performance!
I used this for perimeter control at a large outdoor event. The weather was cold, wet, and muddy. This breach unit did a fine job of helping identify people along the fence line, and at one point I could clearly make out a raccoon with her little babies following her across the dirt road about 100 yards away in multicolor HD mode. I'd give it five stars but the battery life was pretty poor. FYI, I hooked it up to my 23000 mah external battery with a USB-C cable and it powered it all night long no problem. For the size, I'd say this little guy performs really well, just get and external battery if you'll be using it longer than an hour or so. ... show more

  • Its perfect for what I need.
If youre shopping for a smaller hand-help thermal that you might be inclined to attach to a skull cap or a bump, then look no further. It seems to pack a lot of punch into a smaller package. It has all the options and functionality that you need. If there was more that you want, its going to be bigger, heavier and probably a significant price point difference as well. Initially I was conserned about an issue, but discovered it to be part of its outer housing designe. I even appreciate the fact there is spot to attach a lanyard (because it's wise to have tie downs). Soon I will take it to the woods and conduct a thorough shake out. But so far I like it. However, if there was anything I'd like to have seen different, it would be that its designe should have been made compatible for a J-arm without requiring an adaptor. I mean, I might want to be able to use both my hands in a limited vis scenario. $2500 is descent price for what this could potentially do. So what's that worth to you? Well... you've got the rest of your life to figure it out!! ... show more

  • Stopped working in exactly 30 days
Bought this on May 24. It is June 24th today. Exactly 1 month and I went to turn on the thermal and I see a flash on the screen and then nothing. Perhaps a dead battery, nope replaced it with a brand new battery and still nothung. So I get in Amazon and of course, the product return expired exactly today. Only 30 days Amazon will warranty a item that I paid $2000 dollars for that only worked for exactly 30 days. Mind you 25 of those 30 days this thermal Sat mounted on my helmet inside my rifle safe and was hardly used, not only was it expensive,I spent an additional $700 from, Mod Armory to be able to have a helmet mount that will allow me to use the thermal as well as my PVS14 night vision monocular. Really disappointed with Amazon for their 30 policy on these expensive items. Thankfully Flir will repair or replace it and I have already started the claims and return process. Lesson learned, never buy expensive items from Amazon. ... show more
