  • Works as expected.
Style: Handheld
This is just an entry level thermal monocular, but is priced accordingly, and works as expected, maybe even a little better. I can spot objects much further than the specs detail. The resolution is not great, but the description is accurate and it certainly gets the job done. Straight forward and easy to use. Thermal vision technology is not cheap, so considering any other options, this is a great value and serves it's purpose well. ... show more

  • Read the reviews and factor your common hunting ground
Style: Handheld
So far, this device has helped to find several deer in the dark, post discharge of rifle/bow, and that made it feel like money well spent. Note, if you are in a dense area, don't expect too much unless you are very close to your target. My purchase was to help with tracking, and there is a little bit of a learning curve. Rocks hold heat from the day, so you have to be patient and check each bright spot. A downed deer's presence in the viewfinder will be very low, and easily confused with anything that is holding heat from the day time. Got dense foliage to navigate? Don't expect clear findings. However, if your blood trail is faint or non-existent, this is definitely a tool to have in the bag, but clearly make use of the expected body heat before your harvest cools down. The four star rating is because when it works, I want to give it 5, but when I'm faced with dense cover, then I want to give it a 3. The expectations of the user should be well thought through, and even though the technology is common, you do get what you pay for. I will charge this before any afternoon hunt to ensure the battery life is good. This is my first of this type, so overall I'm very happy to have it. If your budget permits more, go for the higher end for that extra power. But this WILL lessen your likelihood of losing your deer, and that is an encouraging thing. ... show more

  • It's a reasonably well made 160 core thermal.
Style: Handheld
You have to set your expectations for this device. It is not night vision, it is not an outstanding thermal. Even in the perfect conditions, you will not get a good visual of the general environment. However, what it will do, however, is show you "things of interest". You might not be able to identify a rabbit from a groundhog at 30 yards, but you will see the presence of something. If you have night vision and can't/dont want to spend the money on a good thermal, this is a great device to consider. Even at distance, it will reveal things you would not otherwise be able to see. I won't go on night walks without it now. If you can save up another 200-300 dollars, a 256 core would be a great jump forward. ... show more

  • Works great.
Style: Handheld
This is a good entry level thermal scope. I've used it over the winter to spot rabbits. On a sunny day with snow on the ground the contrast is very high and it's not useful. There are plenty of options to tune it, but places on the ground that are heated by the sun are as hot as any living thing, so it looks really splotchy. Resolution is low. If you're rich buy one with higher resolution, but this does fine. You can see the moon through it and distant mountain ranges... basically it has an unlimited range. The only issue is the low resolution. It makes it hard to pick out anything at any range. ... show more

  • Good low end but lacking
Style: Handheld
This company offers quality Thermal Imaging Monoculars at a variety of price levels. This one does not hurt the pocketbook, but I found it to be gravely lacking in the capabilities that I desired. I returned it to purchase a TM15-384. Wow, what a difference! I now own two of their thermal imaging monoculars: The TM15-384 and the TM15-256. I greatly enjoy both. If you get this TM160, just realize you will have a monocular with limited capabilities. A good product, but lacking. ... show more

  • Has limitations, but a great product.
Style: Handheld
I bought this to make sure I don’t bump deer when waking to my stand, look for fox/ coyotes when walking my dogs at night, and for general fun. I DO NOT need to spot and identify and animal at 150 yards with great detail because I can usually tell by the speed and movement of the heat signature what it is (deer either move super slow or super fast, fox trot at a consistent speed). I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it in many scenarios. It is not something that will give your great detail in summer heat at 100 yards. Under 50 yards you get great detail. 50 to 125 yards you get some detail depending on the ambient temperate. Over 125 yards detail is minimal however I’ve had some heat signature from a deer show slightly over 125 yards. It was not recognizable but you could tell something was out there and something was moving (I confirmed deer with a 10x binocular). The actual thing can show some variations in temp over 200 to 400 yards but this was a difference between trees and a field. I’m not sure if an animal would be detected that far out. As of now, Ive used this in 75 to 85 degree temperatures. Over 90 I’ve found it to be almost useless. I assume the colder it is, the better it works and I look forward to testing more as we approach fall. ... show more

  • Horrible thermal
Style: Handheld
What a horrible item for the price point. Animals have to be super up close to pick thermal image and screen is so small. Anything from a distance with not pick up heat or if you want to see if anything is coming out of tree line from a distance definitely will not. Those videos they have posted and pictures are so extremely filtered ... show more
