  • Effective and easy to program
I purchased one of these controllers a year ago for my 50w Nicrew reef light, and ended up liking it so much, I got another for my other reef aquarium six months later with the same lighting setup. I can't speak for higher wattage fixtures, but I'm very pleased with the control these provide me and the very easy to adjust timers. The blue and white gradients move in 5% increments so you can really dial in that perfect PAR and time - and easily increase or decrease the amount of time as necessary. The program was maintained through a prolonged power outage, and I just had to reset the base time on the controller to get it back up and running smoothly. ... show more

  • OMG! - Do Yourself a Favor and Get this Controller!
About five months ago, I bought three NICREW 150s. I didn't buy the controller at the time because I thought, "Why would I do that? I can just turn them off and on with a timer." Since then, I have been using a regular, ol' timer for just that purpose. I have discovered two "problems:" utilizing this method. One, although the lights are adjustable with the onboard controls, your options are limited. I was never able to get exactly the look I wanted. The second problem is that the lights come FULL ON and FULL OFF instantly. With this controller, I have been able to solve both problems. Using the controller, I can slowly ramp up the lights over a period of time, run them at a high level for a period, and then slowly turn them off over time. Currently, they ramp up from zero to maximum desired power from 10 a.m. to noon. They sit there until 8 p.m. Then, they slowly ramp down until 10 p.m. Additionally, since I have better control over the white and blue channels, I have been able to get the coloration I was looking for. Admittedly, there is a bit of a learning curve with the programming, but between the owner manual and YouTube, I was able to figure it out without too much difficulty. ... show more

  • Lose settings if no power
I found out the hard way that this timer will lose its setting if it does not have constant power. I typically run all of my lights to my Apex fusion and found out the next day that after setting the date and time and the program to operate the lights, it did not hold. My Apex lights are programmed to come on at 8:30 a.m. when go off at 9:00 p.m.. at that point there is no power to this timer. Next morning I woke up the timer was showing 11:14 p.m. which is the default time when I received it and after resetting it. After talking to Nicrew customer service, I found out that this timer cannot work with any other timer. It must be plugged into a wall outlet that can provide it power 24/7. I Have since changed the settings on Apex so it's always on. Now the timer works fine. So just a heads up, if you're planning to use this on an apex you'll have to set up an outlet that's always on in order for this timer to work and operate the lights as designed. ... show more

  • Nicrew Hyperreef controller
For the price it’s a brilliant bit of kit. The quality of the packing tells the story, it came with everything you need to link 2 lights and the controller. Easy to set up and worked straight out of the box, no faffing about with power Supplys or battery’s. There are plenty of options for settings and once you realise how best to set up the times and intensity for each channel you can achieve some really interesting light combinations. ... show more

  • Doesnt work like it should
Buttons dont register touches that good but they do work. However the biggest issue is that you can setup a program to turn on and off lights at the levels you want them at the times you wanted them to do it. But ill walk buy during the day to find the lights on at 4% it shows when they shpuld be all the way off of wake up in the middle of the night and see the lights on 100% when theu shpuld be off. Check my program and all shows correct and that the program running isnt manual and the clock on the device is correct it just decides to do its own thing and turn lights on and levels it wants whenever it feels like it. Lights work very well just this controller doesnt do what its supposed to do so might as well get an on/off timer for less $ ... show more

  • It’s okay but could be way better
I love my nicrew lights but the controller isn’t that great. It would be awesome if there was an app that could control the lights from my phone. You have to be careful when programming or lights will turn on when you don’t want them to. Also you need to be careful since this isn’t water resistant so if it falls in your tank you’re gonna be outta luck. ... show more

  • Does not work properly( updated version)
Update 07/12/23 (I just want to start of by saying what GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE THIS COMPANY HAS! I was having trouble with another order that Amazon was not helping me with and they went above and beyond to make everything right for me I have zero complaints as for there products all I have to say is AMAZING!! Great products made with quality parts is not cheaply made plus everything works as should If not better you will Not be disappointed the controller works smoothly and displays is nice, it made scheduling my lights easier which are nicrew they make my corals pop nicer than some more expensive lights I’m truly impressed with their quality of products) Does not work when it’s on the holder it comes with to hang on wall I have to take from wall if I want to change any Settings instead of doing it when it’s on wall plus magnet that holds it in place doesn’t do a good job of keeping secure it easily tip over and drop mine touch screen responsive could be better unless my is not working properly ... show more

  • If it's stopped working.....
GOOD: This is a great Light Controller. I used it to control two NICREW 150W Aquarium LED Reef Lights. Working like it's suppose to. BAD: Nothing. FIXES: I have light 1 and light 2. After a year the controller stopped working, to fix the issue unplug the controller from the light 1 and plug it into the light 2. The controller started working again. The issue was with light 1. ... show more
