I bought this solar pond aerator to supplement any aeration generated by the small waterfall. In the extreme heat this summer, when higher water temps are practically unavoidable, regardless of shade, the water cannot retain as much oxygen and the little bit of aquatic life (minnows) I did add to the pond will struggle to breathe. So, I added this aerator. Easy to assemble. And the pump is built into the solar panel. The only minor negative to watch out for is the tubing provided in the kit is easily kinked, which can block all air flow. Once I figured that out, the aerator has worked fine so far…although I’ve only had it working for about a week. I haven’t checked yet to see how long the pump operates after dusk. Edit/update 8/2/2023: After reading more about aquarium/pond aerators, 1) I added an aquarium check valve to my system 2) I bought a second set of small stones. At the one month mark, one of the stones stopped working. I confirmed there were no kinks in the easily kinked tubing. Then, I read that the air stones will need regular cleaning. So now, I have the original set getting cleaned/soaked and the new set working on the pump. With enough sun for the solar panel, everything is again working great. In addition, although the pump is elevated wrt the stones during regular operation, there might still be a chance water can reach the pump due to back flow, eg., when lifting the stones up to inspect them. The addition of a check valve should help protect the pump. ... show more

    • This Aerator Works Very Well
This product is well made. I’ve had it for a little over a month now. It runs constantly whether or not it’s day or night, clear or cloudy. It has different settings to run steady or intermittent. We run it in our 175 gallon garden pond. It keeps the water nice and clean. The tubing is quite flimsy. But it hasn’t given me any trouble. Raccoons get in my pond and sometimes they rip the tubing off of the pump. But there has been no damage suffered. It has a large durable solar panel that seems to work well. it does move air. i had it in a pond and it ran all summer long. until i think the first or second frost we had it no longer produces air. i tore it all apart to see how it works and still dont know what happen. battery life good to run the pump threw the night till next day, however it needs constant sun threw out the day. ... show more

    • It works like a charm. Happy with my purchase.
Once I figured out that there is an “on-off” switch, all was good. It had charged for two days…no air…then I turned it on at a switch, and it’s been bubbling ever since. We’ve had several overcast or cloudy days, and it still bubbles. I have had this for less than a month. The key to whether it was a good purchase won’t come until later. Some solar panels look like new after several years of service, and others deteriorate and fail. I have no idea what will happen with this model, but it was recommended by a friend who’s had no problems and has been using it for more than a year. The split for the hose, and the two bubblers is especially nice. I use this for my outdoor fish tubs. ... show more

So good & bad : Good: it bubbles well & the solar panel is stronger than I expected. It works even when not in direct sun, so it’s good for my beta’s pot pond. Bad : I could only use one stone, not both as the T-tube connector doesn’t fit on the stones valve. I had to use one stone directly to the long tube, so I cannot use both as I wanted to. They should make sure all parts fit before shipping out. ... show more

Bought this a few months ago and it's still working great! I have a small fish pond that had no aerator in it previously. Once I started using this product my goldfish have more energy, eating more and growing like crazy. The solar panel builds up enough energy during the day (even partly cloudy days) to keep the bubbles flowing till the next morning. Would definitely recommend it. ... show more

    • Doesn’t work
I really had high hopes for this. The motor started running/vibrating as soon as I turned it on, even thought I was inside the house, away from any direct light. I hooked everything up, placed the panel in a spot where it gets direct sun all day, and waited for the bubbles to start. They never did. It’s been running three days now and has yet to produce a single air bubble. I took the tubing off and placed my finger over the air output and felt nothing, even though the motor is clearly running. I’m not sure whether I got a defective product or it’s just not as good as the reviews led me to believe. Either way, I’ll be returning it. ... show more
