  • Looks great, but not very bright.
Size: 2-Pack Color: Black
I love the look of these torches, and they seem pretty durable for the price. Also, they're extra long, so they're perfect for balcony banisters or for placing among tall shrubs. My ONLY issue is the brightness. They're great for decor, but I wouldnt use them for 'lighting' (ie: walkways, etc...) because they just arent bright enough for that. As for lasting quality, I dont know yet, but Ive had them for a month now and they still work as promised. I would definitely recommend them, but if you see them, order them! They sell out pretty quickly. ... show more

  • Good solar lights
Size: 8-Pack Color: Bamboo
We don't use them as torches in our yard. My husband takes the solar unit out and places them in antique kerosene lanterns. They last a long long time.

  • Excellent lights, flimsy pole, useless stakes
The Mrs. ordered 12 of these torches and we like 'em a lot - we just don't QUITE love them. The good - in exposure to sunlight the solar cells charge the batteries well - they're light activated for charging and dark activated for turning on the lights. The "torch" part consists of 3 lights behind a frosted globe. One of the lights flickers so you get the effect of a flickering flame. Reviewers who complain that these don't put out a lot of light are missing the point (have they been around an actual tiki torch lately?) Tiki torches are for effect - not for light - and the effect of these solar tiki's is quite good. I get up pretty early for work and I can STILL see the Tiki's flickering at 6 in the morning - not bad for something that runs off the previous day's sunlight. Now the bad - the torches are perched inside of a brittle/flimsy plastic and this same plastic is used to make the 3 piece poles. I say flimsy and brittle because it looks and feels flimsy and brittle up close - from just a little distance it looks like bamboo. In reality this "flimsy and brittle" plastic hasn't broken so I'm talking myself out of saying they're brittle and flimsy - but up close they just don't feel sturdy. Now the really bad: they come with black plastic stakes intended to insert into the ground - these things are USELESS. Out of the 12, 3 immediately broke with the meager physical effort of inserting into the ground. The solution: (a good solution, but with extra cost) Tiki makes tiki torch stakes made of sturdy metal. We pounded these into the ground with a mallet and now our solar tiki torches stand nice and straight. If not for the flimsy/useless plastic "stakes" I'd rate this with 5 stars. ... show more

  • Looks great on my patio and priced well...
OK, I have to admit that these are really cool. I have four of them set out on my patio. I did not use all the extenders for the poles, I shorted each of them by one extension. The reason I did this is because they are now at the perfect height not just for looks but because the plastic is not strong enough with all the extensions attached. With that being said, we've had a couple windy days including a thunderstorm and they have stayed put. I am considering reinforcing the poles still as it is plastic. What's cool is that you can easily take the torches off the poles and bring them inside if you really need to. I have been using these for 1 1/2 months and every night they all turn on, almost all at the same time, and give off a cool flickering ambient light. They really look like they're flickering. They also stay lit the entire night. The fact that you never have to plug them in or put oil in them is a great feature. My only concern is the battery maybe not holding it's charge eventually after repeated use. I will update again near the end of the season but so far so good. UPDATE 6/23/15 - I have to admit, I'm really impressed with these lights. Yesterday was cloudy and rainy all day but they still lit up full force all night long. The solar panels and batteries on these far surpass all the other solar lights on my patio. ... show more

  • Love the lights with one exception
My only complaint about these Tiki torches is that they do not actually produce any ambient light. They look great flickering away but they will not provide ANY light what so ever to the surrounding area. One of the things I loved about real Tiki torches is that the flame actually produced a fair amount of light to the surrounding areas (I think it might be a man thing to have fire producing light) and if that is what you are wanting, These will not provide that. Other than that, they do look very nice just sitting there flickering away. They do not last me all night, probably only around 3-5 hours worth but thats due to where I have them, as there is some shade in that area so its not getting full sunlight all day long. When I first got them, they were already mostly charged and what little bit of time they spent outside in the sun, they did actually last all night long, so I know they can do it, its just my placement of them that is causing them not to be able to work all night long. One other minor issue I had with one of them was the step to push them into the ground, One of those broke off on me when I was pushing it into the ground. The other 3 made it fine, so I don't know if I just pushed to hard on that one or what. Still love them though. ... show more

  • Good fun for a good price
Good fun for 13 bucks a piece. Seriously what do people expect for this price? I got these for $50 shipping included to Hawaii. The wife and I wanted to try these out in our back yard. They have been up for about 5 months now. They go on at dark and run well into the night. They sometimes last all night after a sunny day although they are quite dim at 5 in the morning. I took the advice from a previous review and used rebar to anchor them to the ground. That works great. Seriously, a week after I put these in we had a category 1 hurricane come through and these stayed up and kept on working. Ok, they do not give off a lot of light. They are not going to light your walkway. Furthermore the flickering light is a little fake looking. Having said that, i still think these things are great. They are a fun accent to our backyard and they are maintenance free. I have the 4 now and I am ordering more. We know a thing or two about tiki torches here in Hawaii. My family had those oil torches growing up and I can remember filling them up and getting oil all over the place. Plus when it is windy, like every other week here, oil torches don't work. These little buggers work every single day. Yes, real flames are way cooler. But these are good fun for 13 bucks. ... show more
