  • Dear NESO, Just Add the 2 Extra Poles and save everyone the headache
Color: Aqua Fronds
Even though I am rating this a 3 -star review, I really like my NESO Beach Tent, but there needs to be some updates. I will start by saying that the material for the canopy is really nice stuff and the sun protection is very good. I have a couple complaints from an engineering perspective that will save everyone alot of frustration while they are setting their NESO up. First, why in the heck would you only include TWO (2) poles, unless NESO actually thinks that the wind blows constantly at the beach--which everyone knows is not the case. Yesterday, we had absolutely no wind at the beach and the back of the tent had completely collapsed on the cooler and beach wagon. It's a flaw because NESO only includes 2 poles with the Grande Tent. Sure, you can purchase 2 additional poles for $30 (which is ridiculous), but why not just include 4 poles with all the tents and save everyone the headache!? Next, it would be nice to have 4 plastic sand stakes included to help manage the poles drifting during days of moderate winds. Any wind above 20mph makes it challenging to keep the poles positioned correctly. Offsetting pressure on the poles with some sand stakes and lightweight lanyards would be great and still keep the entire kit in the same sized bag that is included without increasing the weight too much. Again, I realize we can purchase these additional items on Amazon or other sporting goods stores, but why? NESO should just add 4 poles at a minimum, then maybe consider the addition of the sand stakes and lanyard. If you are reading this review and still kicking around your NESO tent purchase, do yourself a favor now and just put the 2 additional poles to your cart. There are also some very good stakes designed for beach sand that are worth the 12 bucks. Your first outing with the NESO will be much more enjoyable with these additional items! ... show more

  • Great lightweight tent
Color: Coral
This was a great light weigh tent/shade option to carry to the beach. I was a little concerned when I purchased this based on some of the reviews about how difficult it was to set up. It does take some forward thinking to make sure it’s assembled properly. For one the sand bags need to be weighted down a considerable amount. If you think you have enough sand in them you need to add a lot more. I ended up filling them up as much as they could hold then burying them. If they don’t have enough weight they will move under the tension of the tent, and the tent will likely collapse. Second, the tent must be extremely tight when adding the prop poles and when finally erected. The fabric they use has an amazing tensile strength. A few times I was worried it would rip but it held up great. Third, the “front” of the tent must be facing into the wind as close as possible. We used it under pretty strong wind conditions at the beach and made sure we followed those three steps and it worked great. It drew a lot of attention and we had multiple people ask us where to find it. ... show more

  • Great beach tent
Color: Teal
Used it three times so far on three different beaches with different sand conditions. It worked perfectly each time. The first beach had wet, heavy sand and we used half of a coconut shell to fill the bags pretty quickly. The second beach had dry sand and we used our hands and a piece of found plastic to scoop sand. Took a bit longer, but still pretty easy. It held up great in all conditions. Third beach was in between, or dryer sand on top, wetter sand below. In all conditions it worked well. The key is to stretch the sandbags out really well and to pay attention to sun position and wind direction to ensure the best set up. Not hard to do, but requires some thought before you disconnect into full beach mode. Only one day we had no help from cloud cover and the tent provided perfect shade from direct mid-day sun. We had a 30 minute walk to one of the beaches and we put everything in a regular sized backpack for easier transport. It was lightweight and easy to carry it on the 30 min walk. For shorter distances we used the tote and it was comfortable to sling over the shoulder in the bag it came with. We left the empty sand bags out to dry before packing up and storing it overnight to avoid getting the whole tent damp. It’s easy to fold the tent up and store it with the sand bags left out to dry. There are two compartments inside the storage tote, but likely best to pull the sand bags out to dry completely before storing overnight, especially in humid conditions. We also were careful to dust the sand off the poles before storing because sand can grate at the pole joints. The only downside so far is that after 3 uses the storage tote bag has frayed in two places, near the top strap and on the bottom. Still functional but it will not hold up for long. I plan to connect with the manufacturer to see if they’ll replace it. Otherwise the storage bag is good size and easy to carry. The beach blanket(s) pictured are Ookapa 9x10 and go well together. One blanket fits perfectly. ... show more

  • Best Portable Tent without breaking the bank
Color: Navy
After looking at the alternatives out there and trying to justify why I needed to spend more than $250 for a portable tent, I came to the conclusion that I was just not going to. I thought we would give this a chance I am glad we did. I spent a whole week with it and it handled everything perfectly. Small learning curve for getting the four corners stretched adequately and to make sure that the bags are full to the max and buried slightly. We used 4 poles successfully and it was not directly into the wind. We also tried with 2 poles in the front and that worked very nicely as long as it was directly in the wind. The tent needs to be stretched even more with 2 poles at the from to make it work the best. It was very nice and QUIET vs hearing all of flap, flap, flap, flapping noise from alternatives. It was really nice that we did not have to rely on wind to make sure we had a tent and with the storms that came every afternoon, it was easy to drop the poles and let the Neso collapse on our chairs and stuff until it blew over. We just waited and went down and put the poles back in and it even kept our stuff dry. If you are doubting about using this instead of paying out that wazoo for the blue fad, then look no further. ... show more
