Bought this for our boat and also cabin. Perfect size. Have made chili in it, burgers, grilled asparagus - can even boil water in it to make penne pasta. Great for reheating meatloaf or lasagna or whatever. Easy to clean. Dudable - going on five years now with the same skillet.

Nesco 8" Elect. Skillet arrived on time (Prime) and in excellent condition. I am a single, elderly male that has to prepare all his own meals. I try to provide myself with food that is tasty, nutritious, and reasonably simple to make. This little skillet has turned out to be a welcome addition to my counter top appliances. The Nesco, along with a small elect. grill, a toaster oven and my microwave oven lets me efficiently prepare 95% of my meals. The Nesco skillet seems to be really well made and the ability to wash the unit (minus the probe) is a real bonus. With the lid on it really heats up fast and can really get hot (425-450 deg.) at its highest setting. The thermostat, located on the probe lets you experiment with different settings for separate cooking needs. There are 5 different heat settings for the thermostat. I usually preheat to the 1-2 range and take it on up to 3-4 to do the actual cooking. The 5 setting is really hot and I use it only to sear beef, pork chops or ham steaks. I've cooked the previously mentioned meats as well as eggs, french toast, battered fried mushrooms/onions, shrimp as other tasty foods. This little skillet has worked well for all of the above. The size of the unit is perfect for 1 or 2 people with limited space. The non-stick coating has also held up well. This has been a great purchase at a reasonable price. ... show more

A perfect size for one or two people. And the perfect size for maintaining weight control. Using a big skillet, you're tempted to eat it all. With this little skillet, there's nothing extra. One serving. A bag of frozen veggies, a piece of fish or chicken, and you're there. It has the black lining which I tend to avoid but as long as you don't scratch it, you're okay. Use wood or plastic utinsels only. Rinse and wipe. Never use abraisive pads or cleaners. It gets plenty hot. Hotter than you'll ever need. Bought this mostly for making very simple meals..like scrambled eggs. or a hamburger ..et. Food for one. Looks nice..well made... not much there. The temperature control dial is awkward..and difficult to see. Length of cord is ok. I wish the entire thing was submersible for easier and better cleaning..but, it is not. Hope it doesn't break... it is just what I need. Got the 8x8 version. Sort of pricey too. ... show more

I am so happy I got this!! It is Lg! I got it because it was higher/deeper on the sides! I've had this not even 2 weeks & I've used it 7X's already!! Goulash,, 2 different stir fry dinners,, 2 different chicken breast recipes,, I fried pork chops in it & burgers!! Each & every time it was giving even heat & it was easy to clean! Update: I love this. Besides burgers, pancakes, french toast, I have "baked" biscuits in this. Also frozen potatoes, french fries, and tater tots. It is easier for me than my oven. This things has worked great ever since I got it plugged in correctly. It is light, easy to clean, easy to handle, heats up quickly. It just works well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: This really is not nearly as difficult to plug in as some of the reviews say. Just push it in firmly. But I don't unplug it often. The heat is totally even. So little fluctuation that I can do four pancakes one at a time with no waiting. I need this. I slow roast almost all of the meat and poultry I eat and than just heat it up in the microwave. But burger doesn't work that way. I received this a couple of days ago. This one has better reviews than most of the little ones. I would prefer a stainless steel cooking surface, but those were larger and cost more. Than I saw a review that said it was difficult to plug the temperature control in. It hadn't been for me. I had plugged and unplugged it a couple of times. I went back and tried pushing the thing in harder. It went. Plugged in nice and solid. I'm not frail. I work on cars, motorcycles, computers, houses. I should have caught this, but it felt like it was plugged in. Now it works great. Heated up quickly. The light went out when it was hot. It does cycle on and off, like most electric cooking devices. But my burger never stopped sizzling so the temperature didn't drop much. So glad I don't need to clean it up enough to send back. ... show more
