This is my second NeoTech back brace so I pretty much knew what I was getting. Typically I only use it when I’m doing yard work or cutting grass, especially on a riding mower. Believe it or not the occasional lower back discomfort from the constant vibration and jarring you get while on a riding mower can be greatly minimized by using a back brace. Naturally, it helps to reduce strain and excess movement while performing lifting and bending activities too. I purchased this new brace because my old one has definitely seen better days. I’m going to wash it and put it in my truck for some future unexpected need I might encounter. Another thing I want to add is this back brace has shoulder straps, I wouldn’t have a brace without them. They are particularly helpful when you want to loosen the brace, cool off and later having to put it on and refit it again. The shoulder straps are handy and come off if you don't want them. The size runs small, I got the XXL and it is still two mall, or just barely fits, getting pudgy in my old age. I found it to support fairly well but added a pad between the belt and my lower back to increase pressure in the area that is most painful. One of the straps did come off when i didn't have it tight enough, I was surprised it came off so easily. It is one of the better back braces I have used. ... show more

When I don't put it on, I notice that lack of back support pretty quick. It works great! The straps help you keep the brace in the right place. The sizes run small so go for one size up. With my sore back and now sciatica problems I should have ordered this support a long time ago. I'm old and move too many logs for firewood, lift more than I should and recently finished digging out a paver area under a low deck with lots of stone, stone dust, sand & pavers while bent over.
