  • Good (large) carbon fiber leg tripod
This is not a bad tripod. For the $$ it is generally good. It is not especially light weight, it is not especially strong, it is not especially great quality. BUT! It is very good quality, it is prety sturdy if you use it properly, it is light(ish) and compact enough and the legs seem relatively sturdy. The ball head is good (a little above average quality for the Neewer range of tripods), it is smooth, and locks tight with multiple locking screws. Note: it does have a bit of "wandering" when all locks are set. I have a two pound Nikon P950 and used a 2.5 lbs Panasonic Eva-1 video camera and it wonders a bit when locked. So I would only use this tripod in a pinch with my video camera (not really a "video" tripod). I like the legs, they have been sturdy. I plan to use a different head that will remove the wandering issue and that should be a good combo. At full extension (which is pretty tall) it wobbles a lot, so I would not use it at the full hight. But that is to be expected as light weight means thin legs, and the like. The monopod system (remove a leg and there you have it, a monopod) is good and handy to have on had at all times. I think it is a better monopod than average. The locking system for the legs is ok. It is a typical twist lock type. They have clicks as you lock it, but not sure if that is intentional or not. Overall at the right price, this is a "not bad" carbon fiber legged tripod. For pro use, I would go elsewhere and pay the premium of pro. For prosummer use, I would recommend this tripod. For average use, this is a good, relatively light, good looking and sturdy tripod for the $$. ... show more

  • Nice tripod
I own several heavy Manfrotto tripods but wanted something to photograph the 2024 eclipse that could fit into my carry on bag without being too heavy. This tripod ended up being a bit larger than I expected, but with the cental column removed it just fit in my roll-on (it's not a super compact tripod). I realized after the fact that a ball head was a poor choice for an eclipse (live and learn...gear head or tracking next time), but otherwise the tripod performed well and kept a Nikon with 500mm lens stable enough for some great shots. For the price it's hard to beat this tripod . It's a nice large tripod that is quite light weight for its size and seems solidly built. ... show more

  • Best in Class
Many of the travel/compact tripods in this price range are way too short. If you're over 6 feet tall and filming yourself like me, a 5 foot tripod isn't going to cut it in a small space when you're standing. This is probably the largest you can get made of carbon fiber for under $200, and it does so while remaining fairly stable. If you are working in a windy area the hook for the sandbag under the middle section can provide even more stability. The tripod is light, but it's not overly light to the point where it will blow away, especially with a camera rig mounted. Build quality is excellent and the tripod head is removable if you want to replace it with a better one. I replaced the head with a Neewer GM001 fluid head and it's an amazing setup for video outdoors or in a small studio. There isn't much to dislike. The clips that secure the legs take some getting used to, but overall I hope to be using this thing for many years to come. ... show more

  • Perfect tripod!!!
This tripod is awesome. Stands almost 9 feet tall when fully extended. The camera is very secure and the amateur photographer will greatly appreciate the options available for finally capturing the hard to reach shots with a steady and secure position available with this tripod. Boyfriend was blown away when he used it for the first time! This item is a must have for options available using this item!!! ... show more

  • Not good for travel.
It’s a great tripod. The leg locks are a bit finicky but you’ll get used to it. It’s a great tripod, sturdy, the fluid head could be better for panning. This is kinda heavy for travel. And it’s not advertised as a travel tripod.

  • Great value
It’s heavy duty/heavy. My other ones weigh a few pounds. This is probably the weight of both put together. That is what I wanted. It’s sturdy. It’s all metal. (Minus the foot stops which are rubber). I was looking for a tripod to stand up to the wind out here. This is good enough I probably will not need to sand bag it. For reference I often have to fight 30+mph winds on a sunny day. I set it up last night in the wind on the porch and it didn’t budge. I don’t have to worry about it toppling over. Everything moves. It’s all adjustable. I will be able to multi use it with my teleprompter as well. ... show more

  • Great Product
Great value for the price very stable with my Nikon D850. I was surprised by the weight. But the return was a very stable platform. My only concern was the plastic leg stops. I would have liked them to be metal instead of the red plastic. Time will tell if that is a weak area prone to breaking or not. ... show more

  • A bit shaky
I use a tripod daily in the field. Generally indoors on fairly level surfaces. It's not hard on the tripod, except the removal and storage in the truck. I have always bought lower price ball head tripods. They generally work great. This one is the first where I struggle a bit with finding "LEVEL" without a slight shake. I use the level on my camera screen and I can see it shaking. Often have to loosen the ball head adjust and retighten. It gets frustrating. Not sure if it is the lightweight tripod or if its more something internal that creates a vibration. Disappointed with Neewer for the first time. ... show more
