  • Great value monitor for 4K value action cams
I purchased an Akaso V50 Elite and Brave 6 action cam. Both are capable of recording 4K video and have mini HDMI output connectors. The V50 elite can record up to 4K@60FPS and the Brave 6 up to 4K@24FPS. My main intent for these action cams are to create some Youtube videos. However, what I learned soon after purchasing the cams was that it was difficult making sure the video I was recording was in frame when the back of the screen of the cam was facing the other way and an external video monitor should help me solve that problem. What I was really unsure about when purchasing this monitor was would it be able to display the video when the action cams were in 4K record operation modes. I was pleased to learn that this monitor was capable. I also wasn't quite sure even if the action cams were in 4K mode, the resolution which it would be putting out from the HDMI output. What I discovered with the Akaso V50 elite is that when it was set to 4K@60FPS resolution and recording, it would output 720p@60Hz but when not recording it would output 4K (3840x2160@30Hz). This video monitor was able to switch seamlessly with the different outputs being fed from the Akaso action cams. The video display quality seems good to me but that wasn't as important to me for my uses. I just wanted to make sure I was able to monitor what the cam was seeing regardless of the resolution mode I was recording at from the action cam, and it definitely is able to do that. The pictures I included displays what the action cam is feeding it when the cam isn't recording and when it is recording. Another thing that is confusing is with the type of batteries that you can connect to this display. It says it supports 'Sony NP-F550" which is true but I would recommend to not purchase that series of batteries but instead purchase Sony NP-F750/NP-F770 series batteries instead. The reason is that NP-F550 batteries are 2600mAH and may last 1-2 hours max on a single charge. The NP-F750 batteries are 5200mAH and will last twice as long on a single charge while at the same time are about the same price as the NP-F550 size batteries. The NP-F750 batteries are about double the size as the NP-F550 batteries since they are double the life but I don't feel they're too big to attach to this monitor. The only problem I have had with this monitor is with the HDMI connection in a couple of instances. It comes with a bracket which will hold the HDMI cable more secure which I have not tried. I had some difficulties where I found myself jiggling the cable and the monitor was not displaying the video due to the micro to full size HDMI cable connected between the cam and the monitor. However, I am unsure at this time if that problem was due to the camera side connection, the monitor side connection or the cable itself. I will update my review once I've had more time to use this setup and am able to determine if the monitor HDMI connection is the problem or not. Also speaking to the HDMI cable it comes with a Mini to HDMI cable, where I wish it came with a Micro to HDMI cable instead. ... show more

  • Great monitor at a great price.
Really exceeded my expectations. Great picture quality, easy to mount on my camera, light weight and offers several connection options. While it didn’t include a battery, and stated so in the product description, it uses the same ones as my camera. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

  • Great value
I have been using this for about 2 weeks to cover sports. I shoot video and photos and have to say that this monitor is great. It's easy to see, battery lasts a long time, and does everything you want it to do. The hotshoe connection sucks and allows the monitor to spin around. I found that you will need to replace it. There is a lag from turning on my camera to the display on the monitor, though I'm not sure if that is due to my cameras or the monitor. ... show more

  • Very Impressive Budget IPS Field Monitor.... Update 5 months Later Fail
The media could not be loaded. The unboxing experience was very good indeed and have to say that it's by far the best I've seen for such a budget monitor. For budget filmmakers out here, I don't see the difference between the NW-759 and the F100 other than the features it comes with on the settings on the IPS monitor. They both look the same but you can tell that some of the features do look different, I've done a real-world test on the monitor to see how it can hold up and you need to watch my video to see why I rate it so far a 4 out of 5. Please watch the video to understand what you might get yourself into when making the purchase or before the purchase. There are some Pro and some cons but it's a budget field monitor UPDATE: After 5 months it kick the bucket but Neewer is sending me a replacement right now as of Sept 11th 2018and should have been here by now. Now I know that the display is not very strong or the components inside the build of the monitor may not be built as pro monitor is. I had the monitor in a pelican case with form and not sure how it happens. It will turn on but the display screen will not work and do something colorful displaying and go black. It turns in a lava lamp and gets pretty cool UPDATE Sept 14th, 2018, Neewer warranty and customer support fail to read my emails when they ask for an address for the replacement to be mail to and mail it to California when I am in NYC. Then issue me a refund without asking me first knowing that I needed the monitor more than the refund. I will now take one star away from the review due to lack of communication from Neewer and didn't send me a tracking number until the day after it was delivered. Now, this keeps me from buying from businesses like this and stick to the big boi monitors with better customer service. Since the Aug 24th and Sept 14th ... show more
