  • Feels cheap but works as a stationary mic stand
The media could not be loaded. The shure SM7B may be just to heavy for it. Over it's okay. Does feel cheap and you have to really crank it down for it to hold the weight of the mic. If you have a shure SM7B this isn't the right mic boom arm for you.

  • A great boom arm
This Strich boom arm is very good, and I really like it. I got this one a while back to help me with video production and carry some of my filming LEDs with my DIY light deflectors, also microphones, I used it with a large variety of other lights and attachments. There are a lot of positive notes to be discussed about this boom arm and very few negatives to be mentioned as well, but before that a quick word about the packing and presentation, the stand comes folded in a compact box that is providing a lot of protection for it, some extra hook and loop straps, user manual in English and nothing else. Positives: - Useful and functional - this arm can be used in a large variety of applications, video and photo production and even a backdrop and microphone attachments. - Easy to use - The stand is extremely easy to unfold and fold, it takes seconds to find the desired height and extend it, same goes for when you want to store it or put it away, it takes less than a minute. - Inexpensive - This boom arm was one of the best options for the provided quality, and most of the competitors that offered similar functionality, were at least $10 more. - No exposed springs - The provided metal shielding is covering every internal part, making the boom arm look much more professional and clean. - Total maximum height of 32 inches - Plenty of height to cover most desired angles and filming indoor situations, I never felt the need to put it on furniture to extend it. - Lightweight and including standard 3/8'' and 5/8" adapters - It supports up to 1.5KG payload. This arm can be easily packed and carried to an outdoor location without any issues. - The feet extend very wide and provide a lot of stability even with the stand to its maximum tall position with LED light attachment. Negatives: - A little on the heavy side, but if you are not planning on traveling with it, it is fine. - Nothing much else really, I just hope that in future additions they can re-engineer and add easy clamp points. Overall, inexpensive, easy to use and functional arm for every photographer or videographer. ... show more

  • Good basic mic arm
This is a good first mic arm stand if you are getting some gear to start a podcast or something similar. There are more versatile options out there, but this one holds its own for the price. Its a little stiff, and as some of the other reviews have mentioned, the vice grip is a little block headed, you need to clamp something in between the table and the vice grip if you don't want to damage the table. I had no issue connecting the arm to my microphone, and that was the most involved aspect of the set up process for me. If you are looking for some starter equipment, this is not a bad option and you could do worse. ... show more

  • nice, other than the vice mount
I really like this design. Seems sturdy and is easy to adjust, and the price isn't bad. What I didn't like, and what the people who make mountable items often seem to miss, is the way the vice mount was designed. The "cupped" metal part that raises up and tightens as you twist to the right doesn't have any padding on it, so it will cut into whatever you clamp it to unless you add your own padding. I tried mounting it to some wood that I wasn't to worried about, and it ate right into it. So I wouldn't mount this to a wood desk. ... show more

  • Great mic stand
This thing is a beast. I can only describe it as "aggressive" it snaps pretty hardcore, and the swivel is pretty smooth. It's a little larger for desktop but adjusts well enough to not really make much difference. The coupler removes and I was able to fit my mic no problem in the new port which is pretty standard. They include velcro straps for cable management, which I certainly always can use. Pretty high quality decent make. Wish it had a better vice grip for desk attachment, but it's still secure and I'm very happy with it. ... show more
