When I opened it, the smell of cedar was just right. I had purchased extra cedar planks for the break in period, and 82% Boveda bags. Didn’t really need the extra cedar. It’s very quiet and went from 75 degrees to 65 in about 2-3 hours, where it has stayed. I have a couple other (non electrical) humidors. In Michigan the humidity and temperature can change at the drop of a hat. Boveda bags keep humidity simple, but do nothing for temperature. I’m hoping the heating element works as well as it cools. I was most concerned with sticks getting over 70 degrees however, not to worried about them getting cold- as the house is never below 65. It’s well made, about the size of a large computer tower. Not imposing. Found it referred to in numerous non-Amazon searches as an ideal quality unit for 150 sticks. The case light at the top is all but useless, as it only lights the top sticks. There is the concern of mixing too many types of sticks together and the flavors blending. This hasn’t been a problem in my other humidors unless I unwrapped sticks mixed together. I did that purposely with 2 brands and aged them that way for 2 years to infuse them with each other. The results - meh. Best to buy top sticks. Great buy so far. Will update if anything fails…. I'm just starting in my cigar journey and have collected about 100 cigars in all kinds of price ranges. It's been perfect so far, it hold 70 degrees very well and with the help of the large Boveda pack, it's held 69-70% humidity really well. I purchased two 12x7" cedar trays here on Amazon, they fit great. It does hang off a bit, but there is enough space between them and the door, it doesn't hit. My only gripe is that when the power goes out or is unplugged, it resets the temp to 65 degrees. Although that won't ruin the cigars it's an inconvenience to have to remember to bring the temp back up. Version two needs to have this corrected and it would be perfect. ... show more

I bought this on October 5th. I was impressed by the recommendations from cigar reviewers, and it was about the perfect size plus it cooled AND heated--which was important. I noticed when I got it, there was an odor--kind of like hydraulic fluid maybe??? I used baking soda for a week, and it didn't go away, but I figured it would go away after time. It has not. I am sad about this, but I could live with it. The last three weeks, the unit won't hold humidity. I have changed the two 320-gram Boveda packs and even bumped them from 69% to 72%. The reading is staying around 58% to 61%. NOTE: I am using a three pack of Switchbot hydrometers--one in my standard desktop humidor, one in my transition humidor and one in this unit. They have all been calibrated. It is sad because I bought this unit specifically to store my better cigars--Fuente Fuente Opus X's. Padron Serie 1926 #9s, Rocky Patel ALRs (2nd Edition), and my favorite frequent smokes--Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro lanceros & figurados. They are all going to have to be moved into another humidor now, and rehydrated and I lost the money I spent on this unit--which I reallly had high hopes for! The humidity problem with this unit has happened in the last three weeks, so my purchase is past the return date. Hopefully someone with the company reads this and takes pity on my plight. If they do, I will do a follow up review with a truthful account of events. I scored it at 2 stars because it is just this one unit and may be a fault specifically to the one I was sent. I was at 4 stars (because of the smell) until three weeks ago. Peace-r. 11/22/24: I was contacted by the manufacturer about two days after I wrote this review. They have been in constant contact and responded to me quickly. They not only offered me possible ways of fixing the issue (which I am now working through), they also offered some refund to help cover the inconvenience. Alyson has been excellent in correspondence and quick to dialogue about the issues and my take on it. They actually are trying to be helpful, and that should be commended. I would say that if they hadn't read my original review and reached out, I did not have any way to connect with them that I can see. I will be interested if they find a way to QC the issue at the manufacturing stage. I am working on the smell issue now. I will see what happens with the humidity control after that. ... show more

Humidor came in a timely manner. Once arrived, we checked the shipping box and everything seemed perfect. It was double boxed and packaged really I want anyone to note when buying this that the humidor can only cool, and it won't heat. If you live in a constantly cold or cool environment then keep that in mind. If you're pushing for a 70 degrees Fahrenheit with 70% humidity, it's going to take quite some time to adjust depending on how cool or cold your house is. There is a strong plastic smell inside but just follow the directions and that smell will go away completely. Make sure you season correctly and adjust as needed! ... show more

Item doesn't work as advertised. Temperature is not accurate, fan doesn't function as well as no humidity control. Ipurchased this item when it was sold by Amazon.com services. Item never worked properly. I have tried to contact the manufacturer as Amazon insisted on numerous times with absolutely no response. Have contacted Amazon three times to return this item with absolutely no help beyond contacting the manufacturer. Amazon shouldn't sell items if they aren't going to stand behind them. Complete waste of money and time on a item that doesn't work properly. SAVE YOUR MONEY ... show more
