  • Large Humidor - Low Price
First I want to give cudos to SportsmanSavings who sent this to me. The shipping to an APO AP address was fast. Most shippers cheap out on larger items like this to my address and it takes about 45 days to arrive. Not SportsmanSavings who got it to me in under 7 days. Now for the product. It is deep with two trays. Holds boxes of cigars in the deepwell and loose cigars in the trays. As with all humidors they never hold the stated capacity due to differing cigar sizes and boxes if you store boxes. I currently have almost 300 in this humidor and it is full. If my boxes were perfectly shaped to fit the space then I am sure it would hold the rated 400 but we all know the capacity ratings are under optimal cigars sizes, not varying. The seasoning only took 4 days. My method of seasoning a new humidors differs from many - my personal preference. For this humidor I placed 3 heavily dampened paper towels in the very bottom sitting on two zip lock bags - bags were stacked two high to reduce potential condensation build up under them. Notice I said sitting on NOT in. I never wipe the interior down with anything as I believe it is unnecessary and increases the risk for damage. After the first day the towels were almost dried out so I rewetted them and placed them back in - humidity level 82% with towels in - waited 30 minutes with towels out and it dropped to 61%. The second day the towels were still moist but I rewetted them again anyway - humidity 87% - after wait 68%. The third day the towels were still very moist did not rewet - humidity 93% - after wait 71%. Took the towels out, charged the two supplied humidifiers with Xikar Propylene Glycol 70% solution. The fourth day reading a steady 70%. Filled with box cigars and loose in the trays. Checked on day five and the filled humidor is till reading 70%. Great humidor and looks good too. NOTES: the supplied hygrometer was very inaccurate - I used Xikar Digital instead. The wetting of the paper towels was done with distilled water. My home RH ranged from 20%-58% and ambient temps were 71-79F. ... show more

  • Great Humidor for long term storage of lots of cigars
I have waited a over a year to write this review to see how this humidor performed throughout all seasons. I live in NJ so the winters can be quite cold and dry, and humid summers too. I use this for long term storage and only open it to bring some cigars out to be put in a smaller humidor, so I dont have to open it as often. The box is spacious and can easily hold several hundred cigars, including full boxes. That makes buying in bulk cheaper and convenient without the worry of the cigars drying out even if you don't get to them for years. I have a wireless digital hygrometer inside and every time I walked by the box, it was always stuck within a percent of 70% all year long. I think the advantage of this being so large is that once it is seasoned, there is a lot of air space which allows the air circulate and stay constant . For hydration, I am using two foam pads and distilled water, and two gel jars distributed throughout the different levels. Again, with all the space, the is plenty of room for them, and the gel jars have not needed changing for a year, so there must be a good seal. So basically it is a set it and forget it kind of setup. One warning is to not do what I did, and rush putting cigars in there. It does take a week or longer for things to stabilize. But once it does, it will be solid from there. ... show more

  • Mixed Bag but Okay in the long run
The humidor is very nice for the price and a welcome addition to my hobby. There are some reasons why I can't rate it higher that other buyers should be aware of: When I purchased this item the description of the interior dimensions in the advert were wrong, it listed exterior dimensions of the packing box. The item is constructed of veneered manufactured density fiber board (mdf), though this was merely an omission in the description, typical of the price point and not intentionally misleading. The item was "open box", that is to say it had probably been returned but was advertised as "new". There was some damage to the humidor when I opened it: minor splintering of the veneer and one of the rails that hold the shelf in place had broken off. This was a minor repair (scraping the mdf off the original glue points on the rail and re-gluing) but it was disappointing. Now the good news: The humidor seasoned easily and is holding humidity in the cold, dry Pennsylvania winter very nicely. It holds a lot of cigars as advertised. It is a handsome addition to my hobby. I will make the same suggestions I've read about most humidors... throw away the analog hygrometer (buy a digital) and toss the foam humidifier (replace with beads, boveda packs or other methods that aren't prone to mold and unstable relative humidity). In the long run I decided to keep this because the defects weren't something I couldn't deal with and I'm happy with the item but I am disappointed in the transaction in general. I had the opportunity to buy an "open box" at a discount here on Amazon but chose the "new" and paid full price... so it is a bit of a let down. I did NOT contact the seller to rectify any of my concerns. I would buy this item again and I DO recommend it to others. It is available under many different names: Havana Footlocker etc... but I'm guessing they are probably all from the same factory, so shop for a good price. ... show more
