This U-lock is quite heavy, and would add a lot of unnecessary weight if you plan to carry it around on your bike as you ride. Not a big deal if you're on a motorcycle or e-bike, but a big drawback for a pedal-pusher like me. This lock would be useful in short-term situations only, and wouldn't be much trouble for someone who really wanted to steal your bike. I got this lock mainly for a cheap bike my daughter will be taking to college in the fall. I am not impressed with this lock and will probably end up looking for another solution. The weight of it alone is a big negative. And if you were planning on using this on a more expensive bike for longer term parking (say... longer than 5 or 10 minutes) you might as well kiss your baby goodbye before you leave. Thin chain, easily picked locking mechanism, highly vulnerable to angle grinders or reciprocating saws... this lock is a minor inconvenience to a determined thief. It would remove the "target of opportunity" aspect a little though, because the lock LOOKS substantial. Overall... for the price, I'd say this lock is a mediocre value. I like this chain/u-lock combo. I don't have any real issues with it. It will deter most thieves from making the attempt. The professional thief would likely have no trouble getting this lock open. It's pretty strong, especially for the price. It's probably a great option for a mid-grade bike and lower. The lock opens and closes easily with no tightness or hangups. It stows away nicely under the seat and other than the chain, does not rattle around. I was looking at the 2 end chain links and I can't tell if they are welded closed or simply folded and touching. I'm not sure if they can be pried apart or not and I'm not really willing to damage it trying. Other than that, it's a great affordable lock that should secure your frame and both wheels. Mine worked smoothly like a fine machine and I am satisfied with it. If you're looking for a mid-grade lock, I recommend it. ... show more

I got this heavy-duty U-lock and chain through Amazon Prime primarily to safeguard my ebike and bicycle when riding into the city. With bicycle thefts on the rise everywhere, even a brief stop at a convenience store is enough for many thieves to cut or grind through many bike locks and steal your transportation. What's great about this lock is its apparent strength -- it uses the same U-type construction as well-known brands like Kryptonite -- and the heavy-duty chain that lets you protect more parts of your bike, like the wheels, and chain them up into U-connection. Although I can't say for sure that the steel used in these locks is up to the same standards as locks costing much more, they sure look the part. That alone is probably enough to deter many would-be thieves. The lock includes three keys and they all do the same thing (unlock the main lock), so even if you lose one key, you still have two remaining. Plus the U-lock is covered with a thick rubber skin that will keep the lock from scratching. The package also includes a hefty plastic attachment that can attach onto your bicycle, most likely on the seat tube. I didn't need or give this attachment a try, but it might come in handy some day. This lock is great, but it isn't perfect. If I could, I would give this lock 4 1/2 stars rather than 4., but it does have a couple of drawbacks. Chief among these is weight; the two parts of this lock are heavy! According to my informal bathroom scale test, the two locks weigh in at about 4 1/2 pounds. For my ebike, the extra weight is no problem. For my analog bike where I feel each extra pound, I might want something a little lighter. One last nit: Since this product is really two locks in one, some kind of carrying pouch -- maybe canvas or a thick nylon -- would be great to carry them both and to keep organized. Otherwise, if you need what appears to be a bulletproof lock, this is it. ... show more

This is our first bike lock and my husbands idea of using it is to lock up his tool cage which works perfectly well too. It’s such a nice lock to have and never really paid any mind to how flexible bike locks can be and what can be locked with this style of lock which is a lot of things. Definitely worth the money, it came with 4 keys which is very handy, very easy to use because of the flexibility of it and it fits through any hole a standard lock can fit through. ... show more
