  • Game Changer for My Floors
Color: White
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I splurged on the Narwal Freo Z Ultra, but it has exceeded every expectation. This thing is a powerhouse. It tackles my floors like a pro, switching seamlessly between vacuuming and mopping. The mopping is especially great because it doesn’t just smear dirt around, it scrubs until the floors are spotless. The water tanks are sizable and much better than other units I’ve tried. They hold enough to handle big jobs without constant refilling or emptying. The central unit is definitely on the beefy side, but it is packed with cool features that make it worth the space it takes up. The unit is still new and feels a bit like a beta product in some ways, but Narwal’s support team has been responsive to every issue I’ve encountered. Any problems I’ve had were quickly fixed or worked through, and it hasn’t been a dealbreaker at all. In fact, this has been by far the most reliable vacuum I’ve ever owned. The AI is impressive, dodging obstacles and cleaning every nook and cranny without babysitting. The app took a little time to get the hang of, but once I did, the scheduling feature made life so much easier. Now, I wake up to clean floors every day, and I’ve barely lifted a finger. Bonus points for how quiet it is. You can run it while working or even sleeping. If you’re on the fence about the price, trust me, it is worth it. My floors have never looked this good, and I can’t imagine going back to life without it. Highly recommend for anyone who values clean floors and a little extra peace of mind. ... show more

  • Absolutely in love with it! A huge upgrade from my old vacuum.
Color: Gray
The media could not be loaded. I upgraded from a dreame 10 to the Narwal Freo Z. And let's just technology has come a long long way in terms of robot vacuums. I've had this for a bit over a week now and it's perfect. The pros: Very easy setup and documentation. It's incredibly quiet compared to any robot vacuum I've used. Ever. I've had Wyze, roborock, dreame, and finally this. This is by far the quietest vacuum I've ever used and somehow even more powerful in terms of suction. Oh, and an enormous water tank. Freo mind! I am absolutely in love with this feature and especially the intensive cleaning for large dirty area(s). My house is oak flooring throughout with throw rugs throughout. When you first enable this, you might think the robot is going crazy cleaning the same spot over and over. Don't go crazy. Whatever sensors it is using, trust them. Performance: Wood floors, tile floors: It does an incredible job vacuuming and mopping these. Absolutely no complaints. I'm primarily using the freo mind portion within the app and I have no complaints. Carpets: I have two australian shepherds. It's nearly November. It's shedding season. Anyone that has any double coat dog knows the struggle is real when they start blowing their coats. It definitely does a fantastic job picking up the hair throughout the house. Hair on the carpet is no match for that thing. Also a plus, if it detects that the carpet or flooring is dirty, you will hear the vacuum go a bit louder for more suction power. Edge mode: I can't personally say I've had much time to observe this (the vacuum runs during the day during working hours). However, the app doesn't lie. I have observed it doing its little dust thing. Cool feature, but that's all I can say. I tend to steam the baseboards once a year for a deep clean anyway. ------ What could be better: The app is great. BUT, there are definitely some features that you should enable once it has mapped the house. It will not vacuum carpets unless explicitly specified. You can change the behavior of this in the app by selecting the carpet on the map and you can tell it how you would like to do it. Narwal does not recommend having this on high-pile carpets. If you have pets, do make sure to check off "Family with Pets" in the app so it will empty the dustbin more regularly. I also had to check off auto dust collection set to always rather than smart. This ensures that it will empty the dust bin after every cleaning. The smart empty was not cutting it for me as a family with 2 pets. I do wish there was a way to complete a room, have it go empty the dust bin, then resume to the next room. Which, you can do by setting up an individual schedule (per room), just a minor annoyance is all. ... show more

  • Review of my new NARWAL Freo Z Ultra
Color: White
I purchased a new NARWAL Freo Z Ultra and it is so bad that I feel compelled to warn others. I’ve found that it does next to nothing of what is claimed or advertised. Thankfully, I bought it on Amazon and can return it without any issues! After receiving and installing the robot, I sought to download the app on my other commonly used smart devices and was stumped. There wasn’t any information available as to why this wouldn't work. Nothing at all was available on configuration of the app to allow the user account to operate the robot from multiple android devices. I attempted to get help with this matter from the NARWAL website support chat as well as emails to NARWAL aftermarket customer support. Support on Chat convinced me to switch pages to review some operation regarding the app, which of course, had the result of ending the chat session but didn’t even have any helpful information. It wasn’t a fruitful discussion anyway with Chat, but I had hoped that they would have escalated the question to someone with a little more experience. Likewise, aftermarket customer support by email was a silly thing. Why request a serial number from the machine, which does not have anything to do with app functionality? Because they don’t know what they’re doing. They stall and wear out the customer who will hopefully then just give up and go away. Guess what. Wrong customer. The app to operate the robot is useless to anyone who wants the freedom to control the robot from more than one’s smartphone. No other downloaded apps on the owner's other smart devices or even a laptop computer will recognize the owner and allow control of the robot. This is quite strange. I use multiple devices throughout the day and don't have my smartphone strapped to my person. Thus, an app that allows the owner to control the robot from multiple smart devices is essential. The app for the NARWAL Freo Z Ultra doesn't allow the owner to control their robot from more than one downloaded app. In a later email (days of wasted time and multiple emails later) customer support suggested that I create fake accounts as if I were multiple family members in order to fool the app into functioning on my other smart devices. It's hard to imagine at this moment a more inefficient app or greater waste of my time other than the support emails between us that required me to repeat myself and still not get an answer to my questions. Ever get the feeling that your requests have no more effect than if you were screaming into the grand canyon? Yeah, it was like that. The mapping feature is not optimal and lacks the ability to easily modify absurdly partitioned rooms. For example, the Freo Z Ultra has had to remap my home 3 times before I could use it and it still displays a very inaccurate map. It has lumped four independent rooms into one enormous room that it labels a living room! I ask you, if the robot uses AI and a camera to map, then how can it completely misidentify the clearly different furnishings of and large doorway archways between these rooms?! From the very heavy and ornately carved dining room suit to the typical furnishings of a foyer as well as that of a gourmet kitchen, the so-called AI can't recognize the difference between rooms from these clear demarcations. Then, it identified the based of a large, brass lamp stand as a shoe, a 5 Lb hand weight as a pile of dog poop, and a bedside table leg as “other”, because it doesn’t understand what a bedside table is. Enough said. The mapping feature is abysmal. On a happy note, setting up scheduled cleanings is a breeze. Unfortunately, the Freo Z Ultra floor cleaning results are less than adequate. The vacuum power essentially should blow away the competition, except for the fact that it doesn't really pickup much of anything. My highly flawed Roborock Q Revo that breaks down about every 3 months does a far better job of vacuuming at its less than half reported power of the NARWAL Freo Z Ultra. This struck me as being impossible until I did a side-by-side comparison. In my opinion, the Freo Z Ultra struggles at every level in everything that you buy a floor cleaning robot to do. The app is junk, the mapping feature and ability to edit the map is heavily flawed, the floor cleaning performance is substandard. For all the hype and flashy advertising over this machine I'm astounded that it doesn't perform like a champ but rather it significantly underperforms like a drunken chimp. So much for its onboard AI, or as I’ve come to understand it as the drunken chimp’s half-witted cousin. Well, I've learned some important lessons from all of this nonsense. 1. Always purchase through Amazon all your big ticket items that could potentially fail spectacularly; 2. Have the multiple device protection plan in place for the same reason. Why? Because of lesson learned #3: Never do business with a company unless you can trust their customer support to kindly, effectively and efficiently assist you through resolution of issues with their products. I'm done. I'm submitting a request for return from Amazon and based on my experiences with NARWAL aftermarket product support and their website chat will avoid repeating these miseries in the future. ... show more
