I had wanted to gift one to my adult daughter, who is a new mom, and this unit was a perfect choice, at a price point that made gifting it even more reasonable. She is thrilled with her new helper. This was my first robot vacuum and I was a little skeptical it could keep up with the dog hair on my floors from my Golden Retriever. I was amazed! It works! It vacuums as well as mops my floors. I bought the Narwal Freo X Plus to replace my other model robot vacuum (Roomba) that has been having issues lately. Recently the Roomba can’t even reliably clean one room without getting stuck or giving up halfway through. I bought the Narwal because it had better technology, stronger suction, was quieter and came with a dust bag so I don’t need to empty a dust bin every day. The Narwal was so easy to set up - I simply mapped my whole house, which took less than 15 minutes. I renamed the rooms, then ran a vacuum task so that it recognized which rooms had carpet. Go into carpet settings, tell it to power up on the carpet, and it’s ready to vacuum. Then I created a daily task and now my Narwal is all set. Every morning it vacuums the house and I don’t have to worry about it - it very rarely gets stuck and always vacuums what it’s supposed to. If I rearrange any furniture (I have a large ottoman in the living room that gets moved around), it knows to vacuums around it, and same if any large toys are left in its way. Once it even went around my daughter, who was standing in its path! The vacuum is so quiet, my children aren’t worried about it at all, but it’s strong enough to pick up so much fur and dust - we have a cat and 2 girls with long hair so it works hard! This model also has a mop option but I bought it only for the vacuum. It’s nice to have that option too though. I love the Narwal and would never go back to another brand of robot vacuums - I tell everyone it’s the best because it truly is! ... show more

    • Way out performs the i5 roomba
It had my house mapped in under 30 minutes and the i5 of other brand took weeks to figure it out and still couldn't get it right. The Narwal is way better on mapping and mopping but the mopping is a 2.5 star and the vacuuming is 4 stars. I bet the model above this one is 5 stars but not buying another. I like this one but wish the mop function for my white tile floors was way better and way more functional, it basically drags a microfiber cloth around. ... show more

I bought this the week it was released. Checked all the boxes for me - LIDAR, great app, mop for occasional use, and small enough to tuck away under our dining room console where it’s practically invisible. I had issues setting it up but realized it was because I connected to the 5GHz SSID on my router. Once I switched to the 2.4GHz SSID, it worked fine. Having two cats and two litter boxes. I have to constantly vacuum the floor for litter and pet hair. This product does its job to clean the floor with minimum noise and I love the fact that it can detect carpet and adjust the height accordingly. If you can cats, and depends on how sensitive your cats are, it might take them a few days to get used to the robot. ... show more

Pros: - Quiet - Good Battery Life - Style - Works 70% of the time Cons: - Mapping misses interior walls. Tech support tried to help with new firmware, still misses walls but also incorrectly identifies furniture (that you want it to vacuum under) as walls.. - Gets caught/stuck on low pile rugs (<5mm) - Gets stuck under chairs occasionally - Custom Area Vacuuming not working (goes to location requested, then turns around says completed! But didn’t vacuum anything) - Occasionally will not return to base, stops a few feet away without error. - Low mapping resolution, several older models also with Lidar (Ecovac and iRobot) do significantly better. Conclusion - Needs work, not quite ready for mainstream use. - Will return, and prefer my 3+ year old Ecovacs robot instead.. wasn’t worth upgrading - too many issues, you’ll have to baby sit it. ... show more

    • First time buying a robot vacuum/mop
The first couple days it did get stuck or tangled up between a chair or some wires, but went back to work as I got it unstuck. It really helps to put up all mats and chairs for efficient cleaning. I have a fur baby and a toddler, so this has been super helpful. We were really getting behind on vacuuming and mopping and it’s been great. So far so good, I’ve been running it at night once my daughter is sleeping. It was pretty easy to set up and the app is straight forward. I’ve used all the functions now, when I’m going to mop, the time saver is using vacuum and mop. I don’t really leave reviews so hope this helps. Keep in mind I do have carpet and flooring, so if you have all flooring, you may run out of mopping solution and you may need to fill it up again. It doesn’t have a self emptying as the others but I figured I did want to save some space and even then, we would need to empty out the bin anyway if we had it, so it’s not that bad emptying it myself. The only main thing I didn’t like, they don’t sell the mopping solution by itself, you need to buy $200 worth of replacements that has it included. That was a no for me, so I use Truly free floor solution which is toxic free and it has been working great. ... show more
