We’ve had 2 of these since July. First one professionally installed in August. We started using the heat around November 1 & the thermostat went out within 2 weeks. We called Napoleon directly. Their rude, unconcerned customer service ranks among the absolute worst with whom I’ve ever tried to deal. Luckily, Amazon stepped in & sent a replacement. The thermostat on the replacement stopped working less than 24 hours after it was professionally installed. Obviously Napoleon has an issue with the thermostats in these models.     • We really like it but think it’s overpriced for what it is
This is a very well made insert that provides a nice flame and gives a nice ambiance to our living room. The heater is very low power but does warm up the room over time. We have really enjoyed having it but we really don’t understand why it is priced as it is. Seems like this unit should cost $300, at the most, considering it is not a robust heater. ... show more

    • Not worth the cost
This electric logs with heater set is not worth the cost. The heater is okay as it has two temperature settings (high, low and off). But, the heat is not all that great. The 'flames' illumination is poor. It's not easy to put together, and the instructions are just plain bad. It's a very heavy unit, and the cost seems to be based on weight rather than quality. However, the remote is really nice! [Honest, the best thing I found about this set is the little remote with its power button physically separated from the other buttons which is not the case for most of these sets.] Obviously, I do not recommend this. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. First off, I've been extremely pleased with the electric log set. It was easy to set up, it looks great and I've used it every day since I got it. I do want to point out, though, that the photo in this listing is not the 18" model. The 18" model does not have glowing embers below it. It did come with a bag of rocks that you can put in front of it, but they're loose and my fireplace doesn't have room for them, so I never took them out of the bag.     • Fan motor works intermittingly.
Easy set up and the flame looks real. Heating is adjustable and adequate for 1500 watts. However after about 6 weeks the fan motor would not always start. It would make a buzzing sound and had to be shut off and restarted, normally that would allow the motor to run but not always. I contacted the factory and they said to send them a picture which I did. They responded and said to take it back to the dealer for repair, that's difficult since its Amazon! When I told them it was Amazon they said to call an electrician and they would work with them. Trying to get an electrician that normally only does house wiring to make a house call was impossible. I asked if they would just send me a new motor that I would install since their warranty covers parts and they refused. We have their gas fireplace unit and are very pleased with it but I do not recommend their electric unit. Very disappointed because this was not a lower cost unit. ... show more

The hubs made a firebox and after searching for weeks we finally opted for this model. The flame size will change depending on how close or far it is to the back of the box. It produces nice heat; it takes the chill out of the air quickly. We also added a mesh screen for a more realistic look and we have a wireless Bluetooth speaker that plays recorded fire sounds. More than I expected! Looks very realistic and puts out a good amount of heat. Easy to set up, and takes the fear of fire away. No messy logs or ashes to mess with.

Very low quality for the price. Mine came without the embers. Once they were sent to me after requesting them, they don’t appear “lit” at all like the photos suggest. Don’t recommend.
