Description

WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER“An incredible, compelling read. It covers an astonishing amount of ground with basic simplicity and good humor. A masterful starting point for any investor. Tina Hay is a wizard.”—Ben Stein, economist, author, actor and commentatorA handy crash course in personal finance, Napkin Finance is the groundbreaking guide everyone needs to help them manage their money and feel more secure. Surveys have found that two thirds of Americans can’t pass a basic financial literacy test, and nine in ten believe personal finance should become a required high school course. Tina Hay understands the confusion. While attending Harvard Business School, she struggled to keep up with classmates–many of whom came from the banking world–when it came to understanding jargon and numbers-heavy concepts. Tina developed a visual learning strategy using sketches and infographics that helped her succeed in her studies and master even the most complex financial topics.Since then, Tina founded Napkin Finance, a thriving company built on the concept of taking seemingly overwhelming topics—such as budgeting, investments, and retirement accounts—and turning them into simple, skimmable explanations. Now, she’s synthesized the most important content into this personal finance handbook. Napkin Finance includes dozens of individual learning modules, on topics ranging from credit scores to paying off student loans to economics and blockchain. The first illustrated guide that makes finance fun and accessible, Napkin Finance can help even the most numbers-phobic reader learn about complex financial topics without dying of boredom. • A great and fun read for anyone looking to start investing, saving or managing your money smarter
I've read many, many finances books from boring complex ones, to how to invest better, listen to lots of podcasts on the topic and have a good knowledge of finance. I have to say this is one of the best books I've ever read on the topic of money. It is fun to read, breaks down complex topics into understandable and engaging sections and covers the nuts and bolts of what you need to know to make start making better choices. I am also having a blast reading this book with my nine year old to help him become financially literate at a young age. He loves the drawings, the fun facts and the quizzes (which have been serious and quirky parts). Far too many people in my network don't take the time to get the basics of finance down and instead leave it to the experts who may not always operate in the best interests of their clients. I urge you to share this book widely and help as many people learn about finance to make better decisions. Of course one will still need to read more in-depth literature for in-depth guidance about different investing philosophies, but this book provides the best foundation I've seen. ... show more

  • A must read for teens and adults!
A must read for teens and adults! Napkin Finance is an engaging and highly informative read for all ages. It does an amazing job of using illustrations and humor to explain complex financial terms and concepts in a brilliantly simple and effective manner. Most books and online articles I’ve found are really dry and hard to understand, i.e. just not something that teens (or many adults) can relate to. As a parent, I feel that financial literacy is an important and necessary component of my children’s education. That is why I feel that this book should be required reading for all young (and not so young) adults as it is an important tool for helping them make informed financial decisions throughout the lives. Highly recommend ... show more

  • A fun way to learn finance and how to invest
Great book for anyone into finance like me! Tina Hay’s approach to finance is EDGY and FUN. I read a ton of finance books and I have never seen that happen before in the finance world! The content suits everyone from first time investors to seasoned professionals. No matter how much you think you know about finance those key principals are always good to reflect on before making big decisions in a market like this one right now. For Those feeling overwhelmed by the concept of finance start here! Tina has everything you need to know in this book and the pictures make it fun. If you have kids I would buy this so they can learn and prepare for their future because we all know they won’t get it in school. ... show more

  • Understanding finance made easy
I've never completely understood the financial world and their lingo. This book has made it easier for me to have the basic knowledge so I can continue on to the complex terms. Anyone who wants to be informed about investing and money (and that should be everyone these days) needs to read this book.

  • I'm afraid to lend my book out.
I love this book. I took it out on a mini vacation and educated myself on vaca mode. It's also comfortable to take around and when I show my friends they always want to borrow it... I'm afraid of parting with it. Of course I tell them where I got it from.

  • Pretty and full of useful information- love!
I have been following Napkin Finance on Instagram for a while, so I assumed most of the book would be 'napkins' that I've already seen. I honestly bought the book because its really pretty and a good conversation starter- a good addition to my coffee table. But there is soooo much information in it! I really thought I was somewhat financially literate, but there is still so much new and helpful information in here. The book has been next to my bed for the last few nights because its a really good read. After I finish it my husband is going to read it, and then we finally can add it to our coffee table (it really is pretty). I have already bought a few for my kids teachers, my staff, and some friends. ... show more

  • Finance is Finally Engaging
This is a brilliant ‘all in’ book that is hugely informative about all the things you need to know about finance presented in an appealing, engaging manner that actually makes it a fun read! Books about finance are usually so intimidating in presentation that I barely even get started. So, to have a finance book that is actually inviting to read cover to cover and learn the basics and smart tips along the way in a compelling visual manner that doesn’t crowd things with unnecessary information is golden. I plan to keep this as my “go to” source. Plus, it makes a great coffee table book! ... show more
