    • A tent on wheels, what's not to like?

I think we're really going to enjoy using this tent on road trips. Before we do, we figured we better put it up at home so as not to look completely clueless when we're out in public. It took time to work through the instructions, but they were easy to understand. It took a while the first time, but I expect it'll take less time each time we use it. It was easy to question ourselves and whether what we were doing was right... if it was too loose or too tight, crooked or straight. You just have to work through all the steps before questioning the method or the result. It may be difficult for one person to put up by themselves, as it sometimes took both of us just to place a pole in a tight pocket. But once all the poles were in place, it was fairly easy to get situated before setting up the awning. The multiple sized windows are great, the window to access the truck cab window is a plus (and one of the reasons I chose this tent) and the awning is awesome. The only con is that there is no visibility out the windows when the rain fly is on, but that's not a deal breaker. I gave 4 stars for water resistance, and while we haven't used it in real wet weather yet, I'm optimistic it'll be fine. Overall, great tent! ... show more

This is a great tent! I have used it 3 times so far, so now its time to right the review. First 2 times were great, I was out hunting, worked great, kept the rain off of me, no complaints. Sets up relatively easy after the first time getting to know it, took me about 15 minutes by myself. However, it does not hold up well in 20mph winds. Took it the coast, faced truck almost parallel to the shorline where the winds were coming up and it broke my awning pole. aka vestibule pole. When it snapped, it put a whole in the rain fly, no biggie, but it is new and I like to take of my gear, so now I had to patch the hole. I've read other reviews that the poles are to long, putting to much stress on the stiching, in my case, it snapped the pole and not the stiching. So this might be a good review for the stiching, but not for the poles. Hope the others hold up better. ... show more

Just used this tent over the weekend and was so glad to have it. It has a few flaws, but overall it is well-designed and functions better than expected. What I like: - 360-degree coverage. It has a floor to it that covers the inside of the truck bed. Some tents only go to the side of the truck bed and are open on the bottom. - Rain fly works perfectly. It rained all weekend and we had no leaks. - Awning is a nice touch. Again, with the rain it was nice to be able to get in and out without worrying about water dripping into the tent. - Windows can be opened in multiple ways. Instead of just one zipper that goes all the way around, these have zippers down the center, too. It allows for lots of adjustment to control air flow. - Small vent windows allow just a little airflow if needed. There are two small (maybe 12" high) vent windows near the top of the dome for more ventilation. This helped when it started getting a little stuffy inside. - Pole sleeves are color-coded to match the color of the poles that go in them. Brilliant! Having set it up twice, now, I don't think I'll ever need to refer to the instructions again. - Inside height is great! About 6' and some change. What I didn't like: - Like other reviewers have said, the plastic clamps used to adjust the poles for the awning are not built to last. One broke the first time I tried using it. However, we closed the other one very slowly and cautiously and it was ok, but still felt ready to snap. Wish it wasn't plastic. - I wish the awning was removable. In high winds, I can see it being a problem. ... show more

I bought this tent to go in my Toyota Tacoma with the 6 foot bed. Then someone hit my truck. So while it's in the shop, I thought it would be fun to see if the tent would fit my 5x8 utility trailer. It fit Great! Putting the tent into the trailer has several advantages. 1) No ladder required. I just step right into the tent. 2) No wheel wells to contend with. Lots more space. 3) Much easier to assemble. 4) More headroom. The rails in my trailer are 21" high, that's 2" higher than my truck bed sides. 5) Better gas mileage. I can haul this light weight trailer with my 1.6L car. 6) I can leave the tent set up if I decide to go somewhere. I just disconnect the trailer from the car. If I'm hauling a boat and going to the lake for the weekend, or I'm going trail camping, then the tent is going into the truck. If I'm going to a state park or some other type of campsite, it's going in the trailer. ... show more

    • One bad pole can spoil the tent.

First time setting up the tent, the front pole (long grey) cracked and then splintered. Luckily I had duct tape to hold it somewhat stable for my week long trip, but it is bowing far too out. I made sure to set it up on the outside of the tailgate, but it's clear the pole is made too long for the entry of the tent. Set up was fairly straight forward. The instructions are sewn in to the tent case. Everything is color coded. It was much easier to set up on the ground and lift into the truck bed. I used this tent for a week long camp. We were rained on for 2 days. My tent stayed dry as a bone. Even the wind didn't seem to phase this tent. Unfortunately, because of the one bad pole, it may be the only time I get to use the tent. ... show more
