Description

A feisty blogger falls for a grumpy trash artist who believes redemption is out of reach. Seth Carmen is perfectly fine being known as a growling recluse. It’s better for everyone if he’s left alone to do the one thing he’s good at—turning garbage into art. But when PJ Hensley bursts into his world, recalling a life he’d once longed for and been forced to leave behind, he finds himself doing the unthinkable and inviting her in. PJ is juggling memories of a tormented past, a stalker she’s trying to ignore, and the final semester of college. The last thing she has time for is stroking the ego of a moody artist. But when a single blog interview reveals the truth behind his stony façade, Seth’s intensity bleeds past all her defenses, making it impossible to walk away. When her stalker emerges from the shadows, PJ bolts for New York, and Seth spends five months writing her love letters convincing her to come home. Can he prove they can take broken and make it art? “I was at peace living with the loneliness of my art, and then she entered my life with a bubble gum scent and heartbreak on her lips, making me ache for more.” Inspired by Bon Jovi's "Everybody's Broken," this emotionally riveting redemption story is the third in interconnected, standalone series. Also available in the My Life as an Album series box set with exclusive content. Read more

  • My Life As a Rock Album
***This can be read as a Standalone but there is a major spoiler for book 1 so I HIGHLY recommend reading in order*** I knew Seth’s story wouldn’t be easy. I also knew I would swoon over it. This book is definitely my favorite of the series. We got a glimpse of what Seth’s life was like in the first two books but when I learned the whole story I was even more heartbroken for him. PJ (Bella) didn’t not have a perfect childhood either, loosing her parents as a teenager. But her demons are much different than his. This is as much about her redemption as it is Seth’s. Seth loves her fiercely but that intensity (along with a few other things) drove her away to NY. Now he is writing letters to her to try to get her to come back to him. So we learn about their relationship with him reflecting on their past, how they met, their first date, etc.. And then we get alternating chapters from PJ’s POV with her reaction to the letters in the present as well as her past POV which usually continue that part of the story from her. I enjoyed this format. And like the other books in the series, each chapter starts by quoting song lyrics- this time from Bon Jovi. This book had me in tears reading his pleading to her. I fell hard for Seth. (I’m such a sucker her the bad boys with their hearts of gold.) I don’t think her can be topped but I’ve thought that before. On to Mix Tape. ... show more

  • One Powerful Story!
Two twisted and battered hearts who were created to meet and help to heal each other's broken pieces do just that in this amazingly beautiful and touching story. I'd been dying to read Seth's tale and this was one huge and powerhouse of a novel. This will take your heart along on the journey with his Bella. The dual point of view is such a powerful way to pace this.... you need to see into both of their souls to really understand what drives them both... what they both battle and run from. There is a part where the controlling Seth finally let's P.J. go and it's such a memorable and both joy-filled and heartbreaking happening. The whole book leads up to this and Ms. Evans fully delivers. Her execution is so masterfully accomplished that it's a scene that you'll long be ruminating about later. It's just my favorite part of this whole story ♡♡♡ I'm so thrilled and excited and just plain ecstatic to finally have been able to read this book! I loved how events in the first two books were intertwined with this one.... it just made everything so perfect to me. Do not pick up this book unless you're ready to invest your heart. Ms. Evans has created another raw and powerful story about love and hope and forgiveness! ... show more

  • Seth
We met Seth in the first book of the series and he was tortured even then, so it was nice that he got his own book. As an artist, his emotions are strong, he feels with every inch of him. So when he meets PJ, who he nicknames Bella, he's hooked. PJ doesn't have a good history with men, so knowing that Seth is a bit of a player, she's not all that interested. But his persistence is charming, and he's easy on the eyes. But she's just not sure she's ready to date. The two of them come with their fair share of baggage, and they are putting their issues unfairly on each other. Seth is controlling and PJ has a dark past she can't get over. But together they can heal each other's scars. This book was emotional and sweet, with each chapter titled from a Bon Jovi song. I think Evans idea to do this with the series is unique and creative. I would have liked to see each of them be a bit stronger, but I can completely understand being bogged down with the past. With emotions running high, it's hard not to get caught up in their story. ... show more

  • 1/2 star at best. I’m sorry to say that this is one of the worst books I’ve ever read.
I made it through chapter 11 but I finally have to quit reading this book. It is at page 180 of 460. The entirety of this book is about two broken people that can’t seem to live in the real world but only in a broken abusive world where they have to abuse themselves or each other. And sadly LJ puts a spin on it where that seems acceptable. It Is Not! Actually the story may change in the rest of the book but I don’t even care where she is going with this story. It doesn’t matter where she ends the story I will constantly be thinking of this abusive behavior. Seth was broken in Cam’s story and he is still broken 10 years later in his story. LJ can’t seem to find “in my opinion” a way to escape this. Life is to short to read a book that is this much of a downer. I worked really hard to read this much and finally decided that reading this was abusing myself and I just couldn’t tolerate it anymore. LJ even had Seth admitting this to himself but she couldn’t seem to find a way where he could become a real live person that wouldn’t constantly attack those he loved or appreciated. PJ was also broken but she seems to be sexually addicted, where for page after page she had to be constantly having sex, petted, kissed, or was thinking of the same. And to me that is self abuse. I just decided I didn’t need any more of that. Other readers might like this and power be to them. I will read more of LJ’s work just not this type of story. ... show more

  • I’ve come to believe deep in my soul that broken can be beautiful.
Seth, is a recovering alcoholic and a well sot after trash artist, who lost his mom to drugs as his dad, a gang member, watched instead of calling 911 because he was more worried about protracting his drugs. He meets PJ, a blogger, at an art show show displaying his work. He is intense and broody and possive and so in love with her, it's like he can't breath when she's not around. When a stalker comes after her, due to her past, she decides she needs to figure out who she really is. She ends up across the United States. Now he is writing her letters to convince her of his love for her and to remind her that because of her, she is the only person who has help to change him to be a better person. This is such an intense story of a man who is misunderstood and a woman looking to find herself. Love this series and I am looking forward to my life as a mixed tape. ... show more
