I chosed this book because the short plot seemed to be good. At the beginning I payed attention for the names and characters, memorizing who is who in each families and about the 10 % of the book the origin of the feud was revealed. So it is readable and understandable separately. It's a modern Romeo and Juliet story with some funny moments and a magical end. I liked the main characters cooperation, the cause which needed it, and the main male lead's personality. It was a little bit long - so this book was enough for me reading about feuding families - but was a 5*. ... show more

Back in Burnt Boot Texas with the Gallagher's and the Brennan's are at it again. This time they have ruined Christmas with their 100 year old feud. Betsy Gallagher and Declan Brennan are thrown together covertly due to a bet made over poker, although Betsy doe not know about ti. Declan is to woo her, bed her and make her fall in love with him before Christmas 4 weeks away. They meet and are both upset about the feud and the lack of Christmas program at the Church since all the props were destroyed during the most recent feuding. They decide to obtain replacements and quietly have them in the church for Christmas Eve. The two are already in love with each other but like Romeo and juliet they are not allowed to talk or date or be thrown off the ranch and disowned. Declan is determined to find a way to get around the feuding grandmas and the ups and downs of the story are funny and will keep you on the edge of the seat to see what is happening next. ... show more

Betsy + Declan = Sparks! The feud between the Gallaghers and the Brennans had been going on for 100 yrs. Naomi Gallagher and Mavis Brennan, the Matriarchs, keep it going because they hate each other. Red hair, emerald eyes, and curvy Betsy Gallagher has had a crush on sandy-brown hair, blue eyed, TDH Declan Brennan for years. He has had a crush on Betsy since childhood. The grandma bullys were hilarious as the two grandchildren decided to stand up to them. Lottie was awesome and helped Declan and Betsy solve their problem by selling them her farm. I really enjoyed this book. Mrs. Brown writes great cowboy stories. Loved all these characters and recommend this book. ... show more

This is just a good all the round, story. It seems like it cannot ever happen .The fued is all consuming .If you read this book, you can see what's happening.Carolyn Brown writes books that put you in the book. If this score went up to 10 then you would receive it.
