    • Good functionality, mechanical pencil or fine tip sharpie recommended
This is one of those products that I was really excited about and its ability to enhance my productivity. Particularly the ability to mark lines at set distances intrigued me but it turned out this feature was limited in its functionality as the holes are way too small. Aside from this issue, the rest of the other features function as intended and are of definite benefit. Given that all the photos show a #2 pencil (which is not even sharp enough to fit through these holes as depicted) I docked one star. It seems, to me, that this could have been discovered during the design phase with a modest amount of testing. Opening up these holes a little did help but I suspect most people lack either the tools or the motivation to do so, possibly both. As a square, this product has alot to offer the craftsman. Many of its features work great and the included measurements on the edges are indeed handy. The biggest drawback is the many tiny holes that measure distance from the edge. Each of these holes is about 1mm in diameter meaning that a fine tip sharpie would fit, a mechanical pencil would also fit if the tip is around 1mm in diameter. Regular pencils however, are unable to be used due to the tip needing to be so sharp that it wears away or breaks almost instantly. I tried drilling these out to 1/16" which had no effect and then to 5/64" which did help somewhat but the tip of a pencil sufficently sharp such to fit was still too fragile for marking most wood due to the roughness of the surface. For MDF, paper, plastic, or metal this may be more functional but for your average 2x4 or similar wood it was a dissapointing experience. ... show more

This is a robust, high quality tool. I was pleasantly surprised by the heft of the too. Tip - watch the video instructions to understand the multitude of uses. Do note that the square is quite small - 4" x 4" - but serves its purpose very well. Won't replace your larger framers square but it adds precision. ... show more

    • Does not function as expected
The item is great for angles but the holes for drawing lines at 1/16, 1/4 ect are to small and a standard pencil lead or my scribing tool do not fit in the holes which make that function useless. considering returning it due to poor discription and advertisement.
