  • Great pack with nice features
I recently purchased this pack as a smaller alternative (18L) to my (28L) day pack. After looking over several major brands I decided to purchase the Teton Sports pack as it had the included hydration bladder, seemed solidly built, and was quite affordable for the price. The pack arrived in under a week. I live near the Finger Lakes and Adirondacks in NY so I hike in different terrain and in all seasons. These are the PROS for me: Sturdy nylon construction and good zippers. The outer pocket has space to tuck items between it and the main body. It has a waist strap (non load-bearing but good for stability) in addition to the chest strap. I like smaller pockets for smaller things and larger compartments for bigger items as opposed to the one bag type. The built in rain cover is a great plus-if you hike in NY you will use it! I used it right away on a rainy January hike of 5 miles. The hydration bladder is well made and the pack has dual ports for the drinking tube left or right whatever you prefer. The compartment for the bladder has extra room for a few items as well. I attached ziptie loops to the top holes of the bladder for ease in handling. The center loop is held in place by a Velcro strap inside the compartment. I wouldn't try hanging it with the bladder full by this. It's not made for that. So, I add ziptie loops. It has all the quality you would expect to see in a pack twice or more the price. CONS: There really isn't any. I needed a smaller pack for shorter hikes and this pack fits the bill. They even included a camping and backpacking checklist! Right now in this pack for shorter (3-6 mi.) winter hikes I have: Side Pockets TP and tissues Compass and whistle (There is also a built in whistle on the chest strap) Snack bag & hand warmers Main Compartment Spare knit hat Spare gloves Spare L.S. nylon shirt Pack able puffy vest Ace bandage wrap Ditty bag with 1st. aid kit, knife, lighter, tick kit, headlamp, pen and paper Bladder Compartment 2L hydration bladder (filled) Tinder and fire starter bundle That is very respectable in a pack that size! And you have the mesh side pockets, bungie cord and a couple of external loops This pack fits my needs perfectly.. The quality, features, color choices, and price make this a no brainer! ... show more

  • Very comfortable smaller pack
We wanted sturdier, more comfortable packs for our day hikes, that had wideeeeee shoulder straps, were infinitely adjustable and that held a reasonable but not heavy amount of gear. This pack fits the bill, and the included hydration bladder is a real plus. Construction of my pack was sturdy and there were no defects. The zippers can be stiff at first, a bit of lip balm will cure that. The only major con with this pack is that if you are addicted to the MOLLE system and like to hang various pouches everywhere, this pack is not for you. It's possible to hang a few small pouches on the shoulder straps, otherwise it's WYSIWYG, and that's more than adequate for the casual or even serious hiker. The unique flap arrangement of the two outside pockets clipping to the main pack with an adjustable strap allows you to easily and securely carry a rolled up jacket or raincoat. The overly-long bungee cord arrangement was a puzzle until I checked the directions and realized that was for a bike helmet. It's fine for a jacket or coat as well. The two smaller zippered outside pockets are good for those things you need right away, and the smaller one has sleeves to segregate pencils, knife, flashlight, etc. The main pocket is deep but not terribly wide front to back, so be aware of that if you typically like to pack a lot of extra clothes or the like. The two mesh outside pockets easily hold 16-ounce water bottles. This pack is able to carry everything you should need for a normal and uneventful day hike, with room for the extras if you know you'll be facing a challenge. ... show more

  • Absolutely fantastic!
I appreciate thorough reviews so be prepared for this long one. Fantastic product. This replaced my Camelback Cloud Walker that I have had for many years. It is almost exactly the same design. My old pack was blue and I was worried that the description of the new pack being bright blue would be too obnoxious. I am often in deep woods and want to be more camouflage. My old blue pack was a shade soft enough that I did not stand out. It took me a really long time to decide on my color. I took the chance and I'm very pleased. It is a nice bright blue but not neon and not tacky looking. I actually originally went to the Teton site to order and I had problems with the process. Customer service directed me to Amazon to purchase through them. I found exactly the style what I was looking for, purchased it and it arrived quickly with no problems. I immediately sewed on all my patches that were on my old pack and filled it up with my regular items. Comes with a hydration bag even though I use my pack daily. Super comfortable, very well made. This is a high quality item that cost me half as much as a Camelback would have. I'm very very pleased. UPDATE 6/10/2022 I still love this pack! I have taken it everywhere. It's been worn wet, tossed in bushes, sat on on rocks and asphalt, spray painted, sweat against and been in sand and dust for days. Ive washed it once. It's barely faded. The pockets keep out dirt and dust, ticks and water, if rained on. The flap of fabric that goes over the zipper to keep out dust is overly efficient. The stiffness of the overhang makes it frustrating sometimes when I want to just zip a pocket closed quickly but definitely worth the trouble. I added rings and fabric strips to the zipper pulls so they are easier to find quickly and can tell right away which zippers for which pocket. Honestly 80% of the time the pockets that I always use are about 1/4 open. Nothing ever falls out and zippers stay where I put them. A bungee loop on the front of the pack broke within about 6 months. Kind of a bummer but I somehow force it to work awkwardly anyhow. Wouldn't mind getting that replaced as I use that often. The side pockets are big enough for a water bottle and the top of the water bottle happens to also fit underneath the buckle strap on the side so holds it even more securely on the pack. The back pocket, where the water bladder would go, is narrow and flat and deep and very very convenient for specific items like a tablet or notebooks etc. It is also insulated and padded against the very back. It will keep a freshly baked loaf of bread warm for at least 2 hours. It'll hold a hoody. The front and second pockets zippers are easier to open as there are no flaps in front of them. The second pocket I use for items that I rarely get into because of the size of it and that it is tucked somewhat behind the first pocket and buckled flat on the outside. Also the design of this pocket, when unzipped, exposes everything and the flap opens all the way, like a door, potentially spilling out anything loose. The third pocket is wide and deep and holds an amazing amount of things. Definitely the pockets are affected by what is in their neighboring pockets. A large item in the very back pocket will take up more space that other pockets would have utilized so stuff gets shoved around, squished and forced in often. The zippers always hold though. Any straps can be used to hold stuff on the outside. I did not think that this was going to be big enough for the amount of use that I put it to. So far it's been pretty close to perfect. Haven't used the waist and chest straps but they never get in my way hanging down where they're at. In fact they have been quite handy when I just reach out and grab a hanging strap to drag it to me when it's buried under something or just out of reach. The only thing that regularly is frustrating that I never would have thought of is that the pack does not sit up straight when set on the ground. Always tips forward. This is due to the very front pocket not beginning at the extreme bottom of the pack. This puts the weight off kilter, as the bottom of the pack is always softly rounded. There is no firm flat bottom on it. Other then a few things it's a fabulous pack. If it ever needs replacing I'd get it again. 8/22 Third follow-up review. Today someone broke into my car and stole my pack. Thank God I have all these review pictures of it cuz I'm going to file a police report. It's amazing how upset I am about it. Get this pack if you want one that you will love forever. Wish me luck, maybe I'll find it.. if not I'm definitely buying another one. Maybe I'll try that orange one. ... show more
