Muc Off Bio Drivetrain Cleaner is completely effective for cleaning your chain, cassette and chain ring. However, be aware that this product may harm the paint and/or any anodized surfaces on your bike. I read another reviewer's comments stating that the paint on his bike frame had been left with a dull finish. So, I decided to use Dawn dishwashing solution first. The Dawn removed some of the greasy buildup, but was not up to the task. So, I decided to carefully use this product. I used water to wet down my bike before carefully spraying the drivetrain cleaner. I was very surprised by the results. Using a soft bristle brush and a little agitation, my chain and cassette looked like new. This stuff works! I then thoroughly rinsed the components and washed the frame with Muc Off bike cleaner (the pink stuff). Last, I used my air compressor to blow off all excess water then wiped down my bike with a microfiber cloth. It wasn't until I got the the rear wheel that I discovered that the chain side of my rear alloy wheel (black, Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25) had small spots where it seems the black anodized finish had been damaged by the cleaner. The other side of the wheel has none of these spots. Thankfully, the painted finish of my frame is fine. I tried removing the spots using isopropyl alcohol, car polish and Dawn but none of these products removed the spots. It's almost as if the spots have been etched by the cleaner. My advice is use with extreme care. Cover anything that you do not want to possibly get damaged. Consider removing the chain and cleaning it off the bike. Also remove the rear wheel, and clean the cassette carefully. I will continue to use this product until if find a less caustic cleaner that is as effective. ... show more

I bought this to clean my road bike from front wheel to rear. Works great. Then I used it to clean my gas chainsaw after heavy use. Took the chain cover off and sprayed it all over and it after letting it sit a while it took all the oil and wood fiber off.

I decided to go old school and clean the bearings and parts of a 20 year old bike. I read the reviews and thought they were a bit over the top. However, this product is amazing and worth every penny. I don't know how they formulated this product but it delivered and I was able to clean the old parts and then re lubricate them. Honestly, while I cannot change the weight of my old bike I can tell you that it is 100% far smother now than it was. I would recommend all of the products from this company as I also purchased the chain cleaner and it worked as promised. ... show more

Very effective at degreasing - can be used by spraying parts directly or using a brush device. since this product degrades as waste or excess, the environment is not negatively impacted. Does an excellent job without having to use a large amount. Bike sparkles and you feel good!

I wax my bike chains with Molten Speed Wax. I also use Squirt (a wax-based lube). Recently I decided to give NixFrixShun (NFS) lube a try, but my bike-fitter warned me to make sure that I removed all the wax from my cassette before using NFS with a new chain (that was also degreased to remove the factory lube). First, I sprayed the Muc Off on. Sure, some dirt and wax came off, but initially I wasn't super impressed. Then I sprayed a little more on and let it sit for about a minute. Holy cow! This stuff is magic! Using a small brush, I quickly had my cassette sparkling and looking brand new again. And I mean it: the cassette looked like it just came out of the box (I know because right afterwards I installed a new version of the same cassette on a different set of wheels). Amazing. (FYI, unlike others I didn't have any issues with the sprayer. Not sure if I just got lucky or they changed the design.) P.S. For anyone using waxed chains or wax-based lube, keep an eye on the smallest cogs (11, 12 and 13). Most of my cogs were relatively clean, but those small cogs had significant wax caked in between them. I've been a big fan of wax lube, but that fave me some pause, especially since I had a persistant chain-slip issue with my 11t cog for a while. ... show more

I used this in conjunction with their chain bath, and a couple of decent minutes of work, took off years of gunk from my drivetrain that other products never touched. so now it looks like a brand new cassette and chain. Well worth the money, and I will be using this product again.
