The MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics card is a powerhouse for next-gen games, offering exceptional performance and quality graphics. It's reported that it cools efficiently because of its size and massive heat sink. • It's a bang up card. It really does a great job
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
There is only one problem, the description "MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDRR6X 384-Bit HDMI/DP Nvlink Tri-Frozr 3 Ada Lovelace Architecture Graphics Card (Gaming X Trio)" is wrong. It is listed as a 384 bit in title, but in the details it is listed as 256 bit. I bought it based upon the description thinking I was getting a 384 bit interface, so I'm a little disappointed that it is actually 256 bit. I confirmed the 256 bit interface in GPU-Z program. Other than that, the only problem I found was in the installation. MSI requires 3 separate PCIE cables be used. I ordered 3 PCIE cables from Amazon and they worked fine. Make sure that your Power Supply capable of providing at least 3. I actually needed 4 due to the fact that the MSI motherboard I used required a separate PCIE power. So I recommend at least 4 PCIE slots in the power supply and also recommend at least a 1000 watts. Also for installation, you need a very big case as the card is very long. Make sure you have a case that supports the length of the card. I bought a Corsair 7000 which handled it nicely. The card is so massive that it comes with a separate support bracket. As far as performance, the card is fantastic, delivering what is needed for high end graphics applications. The 16 GB memory comes in handy for graphic intensive programs such as rendering in Blender and Divinci Resolve. The card is capable of being OC'd and is easy to do so. All in all, this card is a good deal, even though it requires a large case, 3 PCIE cables, and a 1000 Watt PS. ... show more

  • The best GPU card temperatures in over a decade!
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
I can't get the card to go over 70 degrees Celsius. Not even with the most demanding games available. I can finally play Ray traced games at decent frame rates too at 1440p. I know pc enthusiast are saying to avoid these cards because of their price, but the benchmarks are amazing! Frame generation is kind of meh. Works great on some games, and not so well on others. I don't think I'll need to upgrade for a long time, and I believe that's why Nvidia is charging a premium price. It's also scary quiet, like why haven't I heard my toddler in the last 30 mins quiet. I don't have to worry about my house catching fire like with the 4090. I assumed I would miss my money, but I'm starting to think it's the best money I've dropped on my pc in a loooong time. If you can afford it - Get it! ... show more

  • Excellent, but Expensive
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
Terribly expensive, but that is more Nvidia greed coming into play than anything else. It's too expensive, but I did not want to compromise, so went with it. With that said, I purchased the card to play games at 1440 with all super high settings and at high frame rates, but also wanted the option to switch over to 4K. Did not need more expensive RTX 4090 for my individual needs, since my personal sweet spot is 1440. I'm getting really good frame rates with highest settings. For those wondering, paired with a i9-13900K, at 1440 all super high settings, I'm getting an average of 80+ FPS in Star Citizen, rarely dropping below 60 FPS, and with a really smooth feel. Tried 4K briefly and was getting 60FPS, but I personally don't see the gain to move to 4K. Anyway, Star Citizen is not optimized. Other more optimized games are smooth with high FPS. It's worth if if you have the case. ... show more

  • A review specifically about this product performance
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
Money and value are too subjective to be worth talking about, so i'll simply describe my use case and experience vs expectations and people can figure out their own wallets. I went from 8700k/1080ti/32g to 7900x/4080/64DDR5, just to "benchmark" where i was and where i ended up. My uses (as it pertains specifically to the GPU) are personal / non professional. I use a LG 34 ultrawide 3880x1440 @ 144hz as main display (although this unit does drive my 2560x1444@144hz display as well (and occasionally a cheapy 1080 TV for youtube) My concerns going into the purchase were power consumption (and the resultant waste heat in a climate / housing situation that necessitates air conditioning) as well as the size and potential noise. The thing is absolutely massive. Its 7mm longer than my Fractal Define XL R2 case- which natively supports a 330mm card without removing the HD chassis. So, after discarding the HD chassis I was able to fit this 337mm card (admittedly with about 145mm to spare) Its big, its heavy, its substantive. you absolutely will be accounting for the size- in more ways than one. The size allows for larger heat sinks and the triple fan design, so its not entirely (or at all) a drawback if you can accommodate it. I undervolted my card and can run modern games fully maxed without going above 60c- usually substantially lower. In most cases, even after longer sessions, I don't see temperatures past the 40s. My case a good amount of airflow, though, so its fairly adept at ditching the heat, especially given the engineering of the cooling for the GPU. the card idles and handles light gaming tasks at 29-30C, lol. although its rated for 320w i dont think ive seen it grab more than 250 or so while gaming. its definitely interesting to watch the power use change in real time, even from level to level in a game, depending on optimization and whats going on around it, but the performance itself has never dropped- it just uses more gas. overall i'm pleasantly surprised by what i was able to achieve in both a power use as well as cooling. its not necessarily amazing to have a "cold" GPU when idling, but it runs colder than my triple fan EVGA 1080ti does both under load and while just hanging out it really is huge compared to older gen cards- even the larger ones. but, all the dimensions of both your case and the card are available to view before you make any decisions. if youre cocky about your case like i was, it may still be worth double checking if youll have to remove any cages or rearrange things though- my case is likely in the top 95th percentile for consumer case sizes and i still had to make adjustments. I paired this with a 1kW PSU coming from a 750w, and i can say thats overkill for the setup. 850 would have been fine, even paired with my RAM/CPU combo- the latter of which also undervolted quite nicely. ... show more

  • Bad Quality Control
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
This card arrived and was put in to my computer. Games looked great. Computer crashed 5-6 times daily to a black screen and made the computer unresponsive. After about 3 weeks, and countless hours of troubleshooting i decided to put my old card back in. To my surprise, computer was perfect. No crashes, nothing. I used to purchase only MSI products, but i will not be purchasing any more in the future. ... show more

  • Great card but I got prize hiked!
Style: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
This card works great love the support bracket and easily can OC the card with no real temp issues for my build. The only issue I have is how I got hit for almost $300 over the current price and that's within a month. Instead of scalpers Nvidia is setting all these componies up to look worse than scalpers. ... show more
