  • It's the BEST, not just the NEWEST!
Well, I just received mine (MSI Gaming X) GTX 1660 Super in less than 24 hours. I decided to share my opinion and evaluation of the graphic card at this stage and right after a super fast hardware installation on my PC which officially retired the previous model Asus-GTX 1060 3GB. So after the hardware replacement I just turned on my computer and I had my screen display almost about the same time I used to wait before. It's also good to mention that, I never had a bad experience with Asus in the past, not on my graphic card and not on anything else I have ever used but Asus was never my preferred brand like the way MSI is and with this purchase once again it was proven to me how superior the MSI production line is in comparison with all others. And this card is actually one of the most expensive cards on 1660 Super and at the time of purchase none of the available MSI series were close to the base price of the 1660 Super but again I had an intention to pay the difference and try this particular one. I was debating with myself on either the Gtx 1660 Ti or 1660 Super and I searched almost any reliable sources on the internet to get a fair comparison differences and as you guys know, they both have a lot in common but there are still differences which some people might care about. The price differences at the time of purchase between these two models was almost $10 and this the 1660 Ti which was gradually losing it's original price tag to become more competitive with the new comer. Anyway, I did installed almost everything from the scratch and I tried to do a fresh installation for as much as it was possible and I also added all MSI available utility software available for this card and started to get the tests. The results were impressive and I really don't want to copy and paste bunch of numbers here that you can simply find elsewhere. What I like to stress out on this particular card and after being patient for a very long time period for this production line to become available in the market is started shining when I started playing with the same games I used to play with my virtual reality headset and that was when I truly realized how powerful this card really is. It's all about going to the maximum level of a game can be played and I could never ever get even close to it with the previous model, it's about the picture clarity and speed in parallel with full functionality and responsiveness specially when you are doing VR in order to avoid getting dizzy or feeling bad and ... it's about the power of new gaming architectural design also known as Turning Shaders and.... The card itself is very solid with great dimensions which I believe it fits easily even in mid sized cases but mine is a full size case. The beautiful design and RGB (adjustable with MSI Mystic Light) it looks great while blazing performance of the card, blown your mind away. Finally about the fan and the temperature (which I can only speak about this card), even after tweaking the variables on MSI Afterburner and overclocking the card, you still don't hear any sound from the card and if you don't put the card under heavy load, you don't even see the fans rotations. It's truly quite a peace of art with today's technology. I would definitely update my review if anything negative or unexpected happens but for now I would highly recommend this card to anyone who is interested in doing what I was planning to do. The only reason you might want to hold on buying this card for your system is if you are waiting to see what finally supposed to come out of the AMD production line which is understandable but you might need to replace your UPS if you ever need to shift with AMD GPU in the future. Just be aware! Hardware Config. CPU: 8700K, Liquid cooling: Corsair Hydro series120mm, MSI z370-a pro, RAM: 32 GM Corsair (Intel XMP), Graphics Card: MSI Gtx 1660 Super (Gaming X), HDD: Samsung 1 TB 850 Evo, UPS: EVGA 500 W, (Windows 10 pro 64 bit- latest update Nov. 2019). ... show more

  • Solid 1080p gaming/ streaming card. Entry level. High settings.
Was kind of iffy at first. But, this card is a beast at its lower power level and 6gb ram. Beatiful gaming and high fps. Xeon x5687, 24gb ddr3 ram and the gtx 1660S gaming x. examples- Fortnite- epic settings. (90-100 fps) pro settings- everything off, high textures and view distance on far. (250 fps.) BF5 ultra 75-90fps. Most games i could easily hit the 144 fps for high refresh monitors. (Pro settings) GREAT CARD. Plus for a bonus the 1660(all models) has a new nvenc encoder for streaming. Same as the ones in their higher tier cards (rtx 2060 and above). Very happy with my purchase. Also own a gtx 1650 for my girlfriends rig. That thing is very powerful at 75-85 watts! 200 fps in fortnite pro settings. COD MW over 100 fps pro setiings. Really nice for a cheaper card. Nvidias new tech is awesome for the cash level. Bonus on msi cards if you like the extra software. DRAGON CENTER. System power control, video color settings and RGB's (pretty nice, very brite and a ton of effects.) Gpu monitoring. Plus it has a network panel to control network usage. Hope i helped. Get one and enjoy. ... show more

  • Not a gamer, but I love this card.
My wife bought this for me to complete a new computer system I built. It is an amazing graphics card, super quiet and very efficient. The images for graphics is superb. It has 6 Gig or DDR 6 Ram and it beats most of the similar models. During the summer I will try to play a demanding game to see how it does. So far, I am very impressed. I used not to care much for the RGB lights, but from time to time I found myself playing with the different settings just for fun! I have a case with a tempered glass on the side and it just looks awesome. I like that you can turn the lights of as well as it would keep me up at nights. It works awesome with my Z390 motherboard. ... show more

  • Solid performance for the price
This model of video card was used in the Windows 10 work / gaming PC I built a year or two ago. The fans spool up pretty fast on this when you start pushing the card, but that is a good thing. Stays cool and silent most of the time. Base clock and Boost clock are already faster than GTX 1060 or 1660 Ti. Memory clock is much faster as is Memory bandwidth. L1 Cache is adequate. You can push this (OC) about 10% faster than stock settings and get away with it. Never a BSOD from the thing. Set it and forget it. Price-wise, it is about 50-75 bucks less than stepping up to the base 2060, and I can hit similar numbers. This is the best of the 1660 line in my opinion. ... show more

  • Amazing
I had gotten the GTX 1660 to replace a GTX 960! It plays most modern games still at medium some even at high just depends! But if you are looking for this to start getting into gaming now in 2025 i would say do not. While small time gaming works fine on it, the GTX 16 just like its big brother RTX 20 series cards are no longer made making the price on these not really worth it. You are better off getting used or just going for any RTX 30 or RTX 40 series with at least 8gb and up as those will handle almost all games now at high settings. That is not me dissing this card i still love this card and as a small time gamer playing Sims 4 or Fallout 4 or Skyrim this card is 10/10 amazing but as far as like Helldivers 2 or any newer Call of Duty not suggested. ... show more

  • It's ok
I got this thing several months after GPUs became an endangered species. I do not regret buying this when I did, but given the increased availability of other more robust cards, you could do better. I did not win the silicon lottery with this card. To be clear, this card runs anything I throw at it on medium-high settings. I had some issues with crashes but after some afterburner tweaks, it runs great. noise may be annoying if you have it right on your desk, but no one can hear it through my mic, so do with that what you will. If you don't have a vertical mount, BUY ANOTHER CARD. the RGB is cool, but you won't notice the lights by the fans. The brushed aluminum finish on the backplate is great, but I paid for RGB that I can't see. ... show more
