Well, so far….so wonderful! We watched videos and read the instruction, first of all. Hubby then laid out all the parts and they were all intact, well packed too. He then poured a concrete pad for the outside compressor and allowed it to dry and cure. Once he knew everything was ready, he took his time, a few hours, and installed the unit. WOW, AMAZING! Both inside and outside units are whisper quiet; can’t really hear the inside unit on the other side of the room. When I returned home from work, we installed the USB unit so we could control the system remotely from the app and from Alexa….this is great! Please be sure you take your time and follow instructions. Watch some YouTube videos, good ones, because there are definitely some lousy ones that will get you into trouble during install. All said and done? The install was easy and this unit will save you so much money because you don’t need to hire a pro. Cooling and Heating is so comfortable, without blowing hard or loudly into the room. The fan mode works well, as well. Right now I canno say enough about this system….wish we would’ve purchased this years ago. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Mr. Cool as much as we do. Will add indoor pics soon. UPDATE: We’ve been using this unit daily and are absolutely impressed! We live in the desert so this time of year morning temps are in the 40s and daytime in the 80s, therefore we use AC and heat in the same day and this Mr. Cool is impressive, to say the least. Directions and videos were great. if you know a little bit about electric and a lot about putting air conditioner in windows pretty much the same thing. At first I was really happy with unit cause install was super easy. 3 months later it started leaking water down the wall. Call customer care and they were not helpful. Tried called an AC repair person and everyone near me wouldn't touch it. It suddenly stopped leaking, buy slowly the fan was working properly. I had to keep the unit on turbo just to get the air moving. Here I am at a year and I'm still waiting for warranty to provide me a new fan motor. Recently got an email that I'd need to pay the shipping for the motor. What a bunch of BS. Don't buy this unit it's trash. ... show more

I purchased this with some curiosity whether it was truly DIY and was pleasantly surprised that it was. You do have to have electrical knowledge or have an electrician do the wiring. The instructions along with some Youtube videos definitely helped. I am pretty handy overall but I found this to be pretty straight forward to install. For function it works fantastic. I have it in a very well insulated Workshop, but it maintains the temp and humidity better than expected. on a 30 degree day it was blowing 95 degree air when demanded. It did struggle when temp was below 15 and could not maintain 62 degrees at night. It was routinely going in to defrost mode and during that time it isnt heating. I was not surprised by this heat pumps routinely struggle in low temps this does better than an older mini-split system i have but still isnt a heater during very cold periods. ... show more

The unit showed up early, and although the box was punctured, the insides were fine. I took my time and read the installation manual about 8 times before starting. Not everything is covered in the manual, but was is in there is very well written and mostly easy to understand. Nothing in the manual about running tubing out the sides of the indoor unit, but one call to customer service confirmed it is set up to do that. (Why don't they explain that in the install manual?) I ended up running mine out the back. It would be nice if they explained how to actually attach the UV tape. It has no sticky back, so one is left to improvise. A little guidance would help. The drain hose they supply is very flimsy. I purchased the outdoor bracket from Amazon. JEACENT Outdoor Wall Mounting Bracket for Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner Heat Pump Systems, Universal, 7000-18000 Btu Condenser. Otherwise, it as not hard to do most of the install myself (with a helper for last day), and it took 2.5 days total. Take your time, double check everything. UPDATE after 4 months. I am very pleased with my Mr. Cool unit. It's very quiet and hasn't increased my electric bill very much as far as I can tell. I've left it running for a month straight during this very hot summer in SC, and set at 76deg my shop is cold. ... show more
