UPDATE: I was able to work with seller and Amazon to resolve this issue. Thanks to both parties for getting this issue resolved to my satisfaction. I've updated my rating to 4 stars because of the excellent support provided here. Thanks! Larry OLD POST: I purchased product based on having a fan to force the heat outwards. Radient heat is the only method used here. Product description is very misleading. Also, the fuel filter should be part of the purchase, but it isn't. I'm having to purchase it now as it's recommended in the instructions to do so. Plus, it seems the unit will not properly work without it. The heater shuts off after several minutes of heating. Note: I'm hooking the heater up using a 20lbs propane tank. If the fuel filter doesn't fix the problem, I will be returning the unit. Here's the filter: Propane Fuel Filter F273699 Compatible with Mr Buddy and Big Buddy Heater I may be returning it for other reasons below. Other comments: 1. The pilot light is a royal pain. It ignites but no flame starts. I'm having to try 10-15 times to get a flame and it tends to go out as soon as I remove my hand from the dial. This is a faulty design IMO. And yes, the tank is turned on and has sufficient gas. 2. The heater seems to works fine with (2) 1 lbs propane tanks attached. I need to test this more to see if there's any other glitches. 3. I will be contacting the vendor to see if I've missed anything here. Usually, I do my research and can figure most issues out. My first impression of this product is pretty negative. 4. COST. I paid way too much for this given the false description. I would have been much better with the cheaper model. ... show more

    • do not buy from these people they do not accept returns.......
We purchased the heater and accessories and were confused when the flexible hose did not have the normal connection. I wrote to them and they said to insert it into your tank and turn to the left. Every thing I have seen or used do not requires you to insert the hose into the connection. I had to go to my Hardware store and they explained and showed me how you do it. Then we had problems with trying to light the heater. my frustration with this product lead me to want to return it. But they do not allow returns so your stuck. I went back to my hardware store for more help... I now know the procedure to lighting the furnace. I wish they had better documentation Once we got through this learning curve the furnace is acceptable ... show more

Use only the little one pound green propane bottles. Don't use a 20 pound bottle of propane, unless you have a propane filter connected to your Big Buddy. I killed two of them before I learned that valuable lesson. The hoses you use to connect a 20 pound bottle have little particles inside, from the manufacturing process, cutting the rubber hose, I think. Those particles clog the heater and make it useless. I can't figure out any way to clear the clogged heaters. The propane filters are cheap, less than $10 bucks, definitely worth the investment. ... show more
