  • Works OK for iPhone to Facebook Live, if you get the adapter cables
Pressed into service at our church as an AV technician during the Covid19 pandemic, I looked for a way to get our pastor's iPhone connected to a wireless microphone (or two) so we could do Facebook Live broadcasts. I barely knew what to look for but researched online price/performance options and we found this system worked well for us at a budget price. The recording sounds like you're talking right into the phone rather than from across the room. The settings on the transmitter and receiver took a few minutes to comprehend but now make sense. Once set, you can probably leave them alone. The instructions are slightly on the weak side, not too bad, but again it was not too hard to figure out how to use these devices in practice. We find the sound quality is good, as is the build quality of these devices from Movo. Our pastor wears one lapel mike and a transmitter and we placed the other near a solo musician. We are still working on the musician setup but it's a "sound" improvement over just using the phone alone from 20 feet away. By the way we also tried one of those small "shotgun" microphones you'll see advertised for vloggers and found it did not work well from more than a couple feet from the phone. They are not designed to reach across a room. To make the Movo device (or probably any similar microphone) work with an iPhone XS Max, we also needed two adapter cables: The first is called a "TRS to TRRS adapter cable"...make sure you get one that has the right male/female connectors, probably male-female not male-male. I had to get ours from a big-box electronics store but this one appears to be the same. Without it your iPhone (or any smartphone, I would guess) does not get sound into it from the microphone receiver. Think of it as turning your headphone jack (sound going out) into a microphone jack (sound going in): https://www.amazon.com/Movo-MC3-Microphone-Adapter-Smartphones/dp/B01N9CJDVE/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=trs+to+trrs+adapter&qid=1587041878&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVFgxVlpLN1c3QVBGJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzQ0MDAxMVFUQzZWUVFSSFFaSiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODgzOTk2VUdLVkRKM0dFMjJMJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== You will likely also need a Lightning cable adapter if you have a recent iPhone. These are widely available, your phone may have come with this but we couldn't find ours. We got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MK5F2QT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you have a newer USB-C/connector Android phone, you may need a different adapter to connect properly to the TRS-TRRS cable. If your phone has only a headphone jack, you will probably only need the TRS-TRRS adapter, and nothing else. Best of luck, hope this was helpful. ... show more

  • Surprisingly high quality sound for a low price!!
I’m pretty impressed with this product. I think it’s pretty great quality for the price I paid. It’s very easy to use. Sound is pretty clean. No feedback from wireless transmitters which was a problem with other lower price sound equipment that I’ve used. I’m really really happy with these, especially for what I paid. I have been using these to film a web series and we’ve been taping using surgical tape to tape under our actors’ clothing. Normally with lower quality mics, no matter where you place them, you’ll head rustling or crackling. With these, after simply adjusting the position, rustling was gone. I was SHOCKED. I was really expecting to compensate for that in post, but didn’t need to! One thing that could be improved upon, is the noise cancellation. I was able to pick up some very faint background noise (neighbor slamming door), but it’s hardly noticeable. Honestly, if I wasn’t aware that a door was slammed in that exact moment, I’m not sure I would have noticed it in audio. I do think that shooting outdoors may prevent a challenge from the wind; especially with mics hidden beneath clothing. I’ll update this review once we’ve shot outside. Only other thing I wish, is that the L and R channels could be recorded to completely different output files. Like I wish Mic one could be recorded to either L or R, and would produce a completely separate solo file than Mic Two on my SD card. Maybe I used the function incorrectly, but I couldn’t figure out how to produce two separate files. Other than that, I love this! I think you get a lot of bang for your buck. I would highly recommend this! ... show more

  • Not happy with this product.
I received this set up with high expectations. The build quality was all right but overall the set up seemed good. I put in the batteries and began testing the mics. I noticed right away the static was crazy. I tried adjusting the volume on the receivers as well as my camera and could not find a solution. I changed different channels, restarted the system, tried on different cameras and could not get the static to go away. After an hour or so of troubleshooting, the brand new batteries had depleted. I was thoroughly mad. I contacted customer support immediately and as they did respond it took them about 4 days to give me an answer...What was there answer? The Lav Mics I received were from a "defective batch." I had to contact Amazon and get a refund. All in all, I will probably not use a MOVO product again out of fear. Their customer service was responsive just not helpful. Wish it would have worked out. ... show more

  • meh
not great. lots of pops. picks up a lot of traffic noise. Maybe there is away to reduce these issues - but these are my first impressions. Had an issue with them cutting in and out at the end of the day. Changed batteries, changed channel - still had problems. But the rest of the day they worked okay(ish). I'm not sure I would recommend this item. ... show more

  • Not reliable, very disappointed.
I ordered this product to be used for live streams and video conference meetings. They seemed to work well when testing them through zoom at home. In this scenario the camera with the attached receiver was no more than 24 inches away from the transmitter and lav mic and thus the sound quality was perfect. When used to live stream however, the sound quality drastically changed. The setup had about a 48 inch distance and the sound was garbled and low. When used to record with both transmitters on, the sound was pitchy and had loads of feedback which i could not override with a denoise effect in Premiere Pro. I am very disappointed with the performance as many individuals have reviewed this product well. When using one mic at a time you are able to get decent sound quality as long as the transmitter is within two feet of the receiver. This is what I gathered from my experience. ... show more

  • Well worth the price
Thing work great! Out of the box super easy to setup and use. It’s dose feel a bit cheap with plastic but as far as audio it definitely worth the price! Had no issues or problems with it and audio sounds great.
